Job Summary:
The Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and environmental protection of employees, contractors, and visitors within a chemical or oil and gas manufacturing facility. The role involves monitoring compliance with safety regulations, conducting regular safety inspections, risk assessments, training employees, and ensuring adherence to safety procedures and industry standards. The Safety Officer plays a critical role in minimizing risks, preventing accidents, and fostering a safety-conscious culture.

Key Qualifications:
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Certifications in safety management (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA, or similar) are highly preferred.
Experience
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a Safety Officer or similar role within a chemical manufacturing or oil and gas production facility.
- Familiarity with industry-specific safety regulations, risk assessments, and emergency response procedures in the chemical or oil and gas sectors.
- Experience conducting safety audits, inspections, and managing HSE (Health, Safety, and Environmental) programs.
Skills
- Strong understanding of chemical safety, fire safety, first aid, hazardous materials handling, and environmental regulations.
- Proficiency in risk assessment tools and safety management software.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and efficiently.
- Problem-solving and analytical skills for identifying hazards and recommending corrective actions.
Certifications
- NEBOSH (National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health) certification or equivalent is preferred.
- OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) certifications, such as OSHA 30-Hour Construction or General Industry, are advantageous.
- First aid and CPR certification may be required.
