Key Responsibilities:
- Masonry Construction: Build and repair walls, floors, partitions, arches, and other structures using bricks, stone, tiles, and concrete blocks.
- Surface Preparation: Prepare surfaces by leveling and shaping, and clean working areas.
- Laying Foundations: Lay out foundations and patterns according to project plans, ensuring alignment and structural soundness.
- Mixing Materials: Prepare and mix mortar, cement, or concrete to proper consistency.
- Reading Blueprints: Interpret and work from blueprints, sketches, and verbal instructions to complete projects.
- Repair Work: Repair existing masonry structures, such as walls, chimneys, and floors.
- Quality Assurance: Inspect masonry structures and adjust or replace materials as needed to maintain structural integrity and aesthetics.
- Safety Compliance: Follow safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
Skills
Proven experience as a Mason or similar role.
Skilled in using all tools of the trade, such as hammers, trowels, chisels, and drills.
Strong knowledge of materials, mixing ratios, and the properties of different masonry materials.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and plans.
Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy materials.
Attention to detail and precision in work.
