Fleet Operational Manager

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Fleet Operations Manager to oversee our fleet of 10-20 school buses. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and safe operation of our fleet, optimizing maintenance schedules, managing drivers, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements. This role is crucial in providing reliable transportation services for our students while maintaining a focus on safety, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.


Key Responsibilities


Fleet Management

- Oversee the daily operations of the school bus fleet, ensuring all vehicles are in optimal working condition.

- Develop and implement maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and extend vehicle lifespan.

- Monitor fuel consumption and implement strategies for fuel efficiency.


Staff Management

- Recruit, train, and supervise drivers, ensuring they adhere to safety protocols and company policies.

- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide ongoing training to enhance driver skills and safety awareness.

- Foster a positive work environment that promotes teamwork and accountability.


Compliance and Safety

- Ensure compliance with all regulations related to school transportation.

- Conduct regular safety inspections of buses and maintain accurate records of inspections and repairs.

- Develop and implement safety training programs for drivers and staff.


Budgeting and Reporting

- Manage the fleet budget, including maintenance costs, fuel expenses, and staffing needs.

- Prepare regular reports on fleet performance metrics, including maintenance costs, vehicle utilization rates, and incident reports.

- Analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement.


Customer Relations

- Serve as the primary point of contact for parents, schools, and other stakeholders regarding transportation services.

- Address any concerns or complaints promptly to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.

- Collaborate with school administrators to coordinate transportation needs for special events or changes in schedules.


Working Conditions

This position may require occasional evening or weekend work during special events or emergencies. The Fleet Operations Manager will primarily work in an office setting but will also spend time inspecting buses in the field.

Skills

Qualifications

- Education: Bachelor’s degree in logistics, transportation management, business administration, or a related field preferred.

- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in fleet management or a related field; experience in the school transportation sector is a plus.

- Skills:

  - Strong leadership abilities with excellent communication skills.

  - Proficient in fleet management software and Zoho Suite is a plus

  - Knowledge of vehicle maintenance practices and regulatory compliance.

  - Ability to analyze data for decision-making purposes.
