Description

As an Occupational Therapist in Al Ain you will be responsible for: 


  • Provide highly specialized assessments for complex pediatric patients with neurological, orthopedic, and social/behavioral issues;
  • Develop and implement appropriate and clinically reasoned treatment plans independently and in collaboration with an integrated team of physiotherapists, speech-language pathologists (SLPs), and other allied health professionals;
  • Carry a mixed caseload of patients within the neurology specialty, with an emphasis on those with highly complex/chronic presentations;
  • Provide highly specialized knowledge and skills for specialist seating, splinting, and other postural support aids;
  • Identify and select, in collaboration with the client/carers, the most appropriate intervention, balancing the complexity of risk, safety, client/carer choice, independence, areas of conflict, eligibility for service, and cost-effectiveness;
  • Use advanced experience and knowledge to assess the client's needs for specific equipment and adaptations to allow them to improve or maintain their level of independence in all Activities of Daily Living (ADL);
  • Demonstrate highly specialized therapeutic moving and handling skills in the assessment and treatment of clients;
  • Provide highly specialized advice to staff, clients, carers, and families on the correct manual handling techniques, and undertake highly specialized manual handling risk assessments;
  • Take an active role in the development of the rehabilitation service by participating in in-service training, facilitating the training and development of non-therapy staff, and sharing knowledge and skills where appropriate.

Education & Qualifications:

  • Recognized Bachelor degree in Occupational Therapy;
  • Minimum 3 years post qualifying experience in the field of Pediatrics in a hospital / medical clinic setting;
  • Valid DOH license or eligibility, or convertible DHA / MOH license;
  • Relevant range of experience in patient care settings specifically in Out Patient;
  • Experience should encompass both Adult and Pediatric care, with a stronger emphasis on Pediatric care.
