Project Overview

In the south of NEOM, OXAGON is a settlement of remarkable ambition and significant importance for the future evolution and development of NEOM itself. OXAGON aspires to become the gateway for NEOM, a centre for innovation, advanced manufacturing, and logistics.

 

The port is to be a world-first: a state-of-the-art container terminal integrated with a logistics hub at its core while continuing to serve a variety of other commodities through its Multipurpose Terminal and bulk handling equipment. The port will have the highest safety management systems and equipment to optimize operational efficiency and level of service.

Role Purpose

Reporting to the Director of Planning & Engineering, the Senior Manager - Electrical Networks & Microgrid will be responsible for the engineering, procurement, commissioning, and maintenance of all the electrical networks within the Port of Neom (OXAGON).

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & ACTIVITIES

Responsibilities

  • Technical Subject Matter Expert in electrical systems design, implementation, and maintenance.
  • Proven ability to work, mentor, or coach effectively in a multi-disciplinary and innovative team environment.
  • Provide input and guidance in the conception, planning, and design of all Port of Neom electrical studies.
  • Implement electrical systems that meet the needs of the Port of Neom.
  • Ensure that all electrical systems comply with industry standards and regulations.
  • Proven knowledge and experience of alternative energy sources (e.g., solar, hydrogen, wind, etc.) to support Port of Nemo's 2030 carbon-neutral vision.
  • Supervise the site electrical installations and occasionally fieldwork and support with troubleshooting problems.
  • Implement Electrical safe work procedure that complies with NEOM HSSE standards.
  • Detailed understanding of power generation and distribution systems (HV, MV, LV, BESS, Shore Power, DC battery, AC UPS, PMS/SCADA, etc).
  • Collaborate with external and internal stakeholders on innovation and power and energy distribution solutions.
  • Proven experience in managing and maintaining a microgrid network.
  • Participating in the selection and procurement of electrical equipment and materials
  • Development of long-term contracts to support daily operations such as manpower, facilities management, spare parts, etc.
  • Research and identification of technologies/innovations that may contribute to improving port efficiency and cost-effectiveness in conjunction with the Operations, Automation, and ICT departments.
  • Contribute to developing and implementing processes and procedures for everyday terminal tasks, which are central to the reliability and availability of equipment assets to create a safe working environment for workers and operators.
  • Travel to equipment vendors/suppliers for inspections and audits is part of the role and can be conducted regularly to ensure quality manufacturing and delivery schedule compliance.

 

 

 

BACKGROUND, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

  • Expert knowledge of electrical networks and microgrids for complex infrastructure, cities, and/or states. Proven experience within a port environment is a plus.
  • Detailed understanding of procurement and contract negotiations.
  • Strong technical background followed by functional engineering experience in gathering and evaluating engineering information and making actionable recommendations to management.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English.
  • being tactful with a high level of diplomacy be to enable successful interaction across a multicultural environment.
  • Pursuing continuous improvement
  • Proven ability to work independently, sometimes remotely, as a NEOM representative while effectively contributing to cross-discipline teams.
  • The ability to work logically, consistently, and accurately while simultaneously handling multiple priority projects.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering. Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Relevant years of experience in complex electrical network design, implementation, commissioning, performance monitoring, and maintenance.
  • Years of Power Generation Industry experience with a broad engineering, operations, and maintenance background.
  • + Relevant years of experience in the development and/or implementation of large projects.
