Regional Rail Director at Hatch

Hatch, a global engineering and consulting firm with over 65 years of expertise in mining, energy, and infrastructure, is seeking a Regional Rail Director for its Middle East operations. This full-time position is based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and involves leading programs and pursuits within a multidisciplinary rail team focused on projects across the Middle East region.

Strategic Role in Rail Infrastructure

The Regional Rail Director will play an entrepreneurial role, leveraging Hatch's global network of over 1,000 rail experts and 9,000 staff to achieve success. This position is critical to the creation and construction of urban infrastructure, specifically within the rail and transit sector, contributing to the company's commitment to positive change.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify pursuits, develop win strategies, build winning teams, and secure new work.
• Contribute as part of the Global Rail Leadership team to build and expand the practice.
• Develop and manage major technical programs, including control of scope, schedule, and budget.
• Organize, manage, and inspire staff to achieve program objectives.
• Manage owner and stakeholder interests effectively.
• Present ideas, concepts, and detailed information to owners, contractors, and other parties.
• Coordinate and build partnerships both internally within Hatch and externally with partners to achieve project goals.
• Review the work of others and provide detailed, constructive commentary in a professional setting.
• Promote Hatch through personal interactions and industry events, and develop opportunities for new work.

Candidate Profile and Experience

The ideal candidate will be a veteran of the rail industry with demonstrated experience leading projects exceeding $50 million in capital value and successfully winning pursuits of similar value in the Gulf States and the wider Middle East region. Critical to success are developed interpersonal skills for client interaction, alongside the ability to act as a trusted advisor and partner to clients and contractors. The role requires a high degree of trust and follow-through.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline. A Master's degree in Engineering is preferred.
• Professional Engineering License and Project Management Professional (PMP) certification are strongly preferred.
• Fifteen (15) years of experience in the rail infrastructure, vehicles, signaling, or systems integration industries, with at least five (5) of those years working in the Middle East.
• Demonstrable experience in identifying and securing work in excess of $5 million annually as a proposal leader.
• Eight (8) or more years and experience on at least three (3) different projects of multidisciplinary systems project management, with projects greater than $50 million in capital value.
• Demonstrable experience in specification development, engineering procedure development, standards development, financial management, and estimating.
• Knowledge of railway operations, system safety, RAMS (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, and Safety), and associated requirements.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written, including technical writing) are required.
• Demonstrable experience in training, mentoring, and developing staff, as well as educating clients.
