Role Summary The Facade Engineer is responsible for overseeing the design, technical review, coordination, and construction supervision of façade systems throughout the project lifecycle. As part of the Construction Supervision Consultant team, the role ensures that façade works are executed in compliance with approved designs, specifications, performance requirements, and applicable standards. The position plays a critical role in ensuring façade safety, functionality, durability, aesthetics, and integration with the overall building envelope. Facade Engineer – Key Responsibilities Review and oversee the design, detailing, and performance requirements of façade systems, including curtain walls, cladding, glazing, stone, metal panels, and associated interfaces. Ensure façade works comply with approved drawings, specifications, building codes, sustainability requirements, and international standards. Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, MEP engineers, and specialist façade consultants to resolve design and interface issues. Review and approve façade shop drawings, material submittals, mock-ups, method statements, and installation procedures. Supervise façade installation works on site, ensuring quality, safety, and adherence to approved details and schedules. Monitor façade performance criteria including air and water tightness, thermal performance, acoustic requirements, fire safety, and structural integrity. Participate in façade inspections, factory visits, testing (e.g., mock-up testing, site water tests), and quality audits. Identify and resolve technical issues, non-conformances, and constructability challenges related to façade works. Coordinate with the Resident Engineer and Project Management Team to align façade progress with overall project schedule and milestones. Review and provide technical input on façade-related variations, claims, and change orders. Prepare technical reports, inspection records, snag lists, and recommendations related to façade works. Support project close-out activities, including as-built documentation, operation & maintenance manuals, and defect liability period inspections. Qualifications & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline. Minimum 10–15 years of experience in façade engineering, building envelope design, or façade construction supervision. Proven experience on large-scale projects such as high-rise buildings, mixed-use developments, commercial complexes, hospitality projects, or master-planned communities. Strong background working with construction supervision consultants or on the client-side. Skills & Competencies Strong technical knowledge of façade systems, materials, and installation methodologies. Excellent understanding of façade performance requirements, testing procedures, and international codes and standards. Ability to manage complex interfaces between façade systems and structural/MEP elements. High attention to detail with strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Excellent communication and coordination skills with consultants, contractors, and specialists. Ability to manage multiple façade packages under tight deadlines. Confident professional presence on site and during technical and coordination meetings.
