Botanica is the largest landscape nursery in the region. It is part of Red Sea Global’s planet-first approach, seeking to enrich the natural environment around us and set new standards for sustainable development. Operational since 2020, Botanica has grown and supplied more than 7 million plants to landscape RSG’s destinations, aiming to deliver 30 million plants by 2030. Botanica also provides immersive educational experiences for guests at The Red Sea, AMAALA, and beyond. The nursery features diverse local plants, flowers, and other vegetation. Any new species introduced is carefully planned and follows comprehensive evaluations to guarantee harmonious integration with the existing flora and fauna.


Job Purpose
To develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive plant biosecurity and quality management program that safeguards plant health, minimizes pest and disease risks, and ensures consistent production standards across nursery and greenhouse operations.
This role will establish effective systems, procedures, and monitoring processes that integrate biosecurity best practices with research, development, and production goals.
Key Responsibilities:
1 . Program Development & Implementation
Design and roll out a site-wide biosecurity management framework tailored to nursery and greenhouse operations. Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for plant health threats, pest entry points, and operational vulnerabilities. Establish and maintain clear operating procedures for plant movement, sanitation, propagation, and waste handling. Ensure alignment between research, production, and operational teams on biosecurity protocols.
2. Monitoring & Compliance
Set up inspection and monitoring schedules for plant health, hygiene, and pest management. Maintain accurate documentation, logs, and traceability systems for plant material, suppliers, and sanitation activities. Coordinate internal reviews, audits, and corrective actions to ensure ongoing compliance with internal standards and external requirements.
3. Training & Awareness
Develop and deliver training programs for staff on plant health, biosecurity, hygiene, and traceability. Promote awareness and accountability across teams to foster a proactive culture of biosecurity.
4. Continuous Improvement & Reporting
Analyze plant health and operational data to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for improvement. Prepare reports, dashboards, and presentations on biosecurity performance for R&D and management teams. Support trials, evaluations, and R&D initiatives that contribute to improved plant resilience and production practices.
4. Collaboration & Liaison
Work closely with production, research, and facilities teams to align practices and share insights. Liaise with plant health authorities, certification bodies, and industry partners as needed.
Qualifications & Experience:
Essential:
Bachelor’s degree in: plant pathology, horticulture, plant science, or a related discipline. Minimum 10 years’ experience in a nursery, greenhouse, or horticultural production environment. Pest and Disease Management Experience: The ability to accurately identify, monitor, and manage various plant pests, diseases, and weeds is crucial. This includes knowledge of different control methods (organic, biological, and chemical) and the principles of Integrated Pest Management (IPM). Biosecurity Protocols & Hygiene Experience: A deep understanding and strict adherence to nursery hygiene practices and biosecurity protocols Experience implementing: management systems or procedural frameworks (quality, safety, or environmental). Strong writing and documentation skills for procedure and policy development.
Desirable
Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Clear communication is vital for educating staff and landowners on best practices, collaborating with team members, and liaising with government agencies or clients. Data Management & IT: Skills in record-keeping, data analysis, and using relevant software (e.g., inventory management, pest surveillance software) can enhance efficiency and decision-making. Adaptability and Flexibility: The ability to adjust plans in response to unpredictable environmental changes, new pest threats, or evolving industry standards. Environmental Awareness: An understanding of sustainable practices, conserving biodiversity, and the broader environmental impact of nursery operations. Certifications: Relevant certifications, such as a pesticide applicator license, a Growsafe Certificate (if applicable by region), or horticulture qualifications, can be highly beneficial.

Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities. Effective communication and training skills across multiple teams. Capable of balancing field-based and documentation-based work. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, data tracking tools, and documentation software.
