Vice President – Technical & Asset Management | Executive Leadership Role
We are supporting a leading drilling organization in the search for a Vice President – Technical & Asset Management, a senior leadership role responsible for the technical integrity, reliability, and lifecycle performance of a large drilling fleet.
Reporting directly to the COO, this role serves as the technical authority across engineering, maintenance, and asset management, ensuring assets are designed, maintained, and operated to the highest standards of safety, reliability, and cost efficiency.
This is a strategic yet hands-on position, playing a critical role in maximizing asset value, reducing non-productive time (NPT), and aligning technical strategy with operational and commercial objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Own full asset lifecycle management, from design and commissioning through upgrades, major overhauls, and retirement Lead maintenance and reliability strategies (preventive, predictive, condition-based) to improve uptime and reduce failures Act as engineering authority across mechanical, electrical, control, and drilling systems, including MOC and standardization Drive CAPEX planning and asset optimization, supporting ROI, fleet modernization, and long-lead equipment strategies Partner with Operations on rig acceptance, mobilization, audits, and incident investigations, ensuring HSSE and regulatory compliance Build and lead a high-performing engineering and asset management organization, including capability development and digital systems adoption
Required Qualification
Senior technical leader with 15+ years’ experience in drilling, oilfield services, or heavy asset-intensive operations Strong background in engineering, maintenance, and asset management for complex equipment and large fleets Proven experience leading large, multidisciplinary teams and delivering major projects within budget and schedule Commercially astute, with solid understanding of asset economics, total cost of ownership, and operational risk Hands-on, credible technical authority with a collaborative leadership style
