Role Purpose
The Training Lead is responsible for developing, coordinating, and implementing comprehensive training programs for port operations personnel. This role ensures that all port staff are adequately trained in safety procedures, equipment operation, and compliance with regulatory standards. The Port Training Lead will work closely with various departments to identify training needs, design effective training modules, and evaluate the outcomes to ensure continuous improvement in port operations.
Key Accountabilities & Activities
- Training Program Development: Design and develop training programs tailored to the needs of port operations, including safety protocols, equipment handling, and regulatory compliance.
- Training Delivery: Conduct training sessions, workshops, and on-the-job training for new and existing employees.
- Curriculum Management: Create and update training materials, manuals, and presentations to ensure they reflect current best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Assessment and Evaluation: Develop assessment tools to measure training effectiveness and monitor employee performance post-training.
- Compliance: Ensure all training programs comply with local, national, and international regulations and standards.
- Collaboration: Work with department heads to identify training needs and align training programs with operational goals.
- Record Keeping: Maintain detailed records of training activities, employee progress, and certification statuses.
- Continuous Improvement: Regularly review and update training programs based on feedback, technological advancements, and changes in regulations.
- Safety Promotion: Advocate for a culture of safety and continuous improvement within the port.
Background, Skills & Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in port operations, logistics, or a related field, with at least 2 years in a training or supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of port operations and safety regulations.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to design and implement effective training programs.
- Proficient in using training software and tools.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to assess training needs and evaluate training outcomes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Studies, Logistics, Business Administration, Education, or a related field. Relevant certifications are a plus.
