The Structural Engineer is responsible for developing structural engineering
methodologies and processes for all stages of curtainwall and facade project execution
from tendering through detailed design and field related activities. This role requires in-
depth knowledge and experience with codes, regulations and specifications as they relate
to a range of materials such as GRC , GRP , GRG, aluminium, glass, steel, stone, etc. within
the building envelope industry. The Structural Engineer must work with Sales, Designers,
Manufacturing, Procurement and Site Installation to ensure structural designs and
analysis are coordinated to allow for highest possible global efficiencies. The Structural
Engineer may be responsible for others in the same field of focus and has to manage work
within project schedules and budgets.
Skills
Conduct a detailed review of specifications, and architectural/structural
documents during a tender phase to communicate all structural considerations
and modifications that should be included in the bid proposal.
Review proposed performance mock-up testing procedures and develop all
additional testing plans as it relates to internal or vendor prototype and material
testing.
Participate during testing and generate testing summary report
Reference all applicable codes, standards and judgements to develop
appropriate criteria for loading analysis of the curtainwall façade and
anchorage back to load bearing structure.
Collaborate with designers, architects ,consultants and other engineers to
develop curtainwall system designs.
Utilize all codes and standards applicable to design with materials such as FRP,
GRC , GRG ,aluminium, glass, steel, stone, concrete, wood, etc.
Apply project specifications to the analysis and design of curtainwall and
materials.
Create complete calculation packages within the submission schedule that will
be reviewed and approved by consultants, architects, and engineers of record.
Prepare responses and updates to calculation packages based on returned
comments on submission.
Manage outsourced structural engineering as required. Review third-party
calculation packages for submission, along with budgets, change orders and
schedule.
