Purpose:

To provide advanced technical leadership and engineering direction across development initiatives, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, reliable, and aligned with enterprise architecture and engineering standards, while remaining an individual contributor role. 

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide technical leadership for a squad while remaining an individual contributor. 

• Define technical approaches, engineering standards, and implementation patterns for assigned products. 

• Lead technical design and development of complex systems and critical components. 

• Facilitate squad ceremonies and own team-level delivery cadence and technical planning. 

• Break down features into technical work and support estimation and sequencing with the Product Owner. 

• Provide technical guidance to engineers and resolve complex engineering challenges. 

• Review solution designs, code, and implementations for quality and architectural alignment. 

• Drive engineering best practices for scalability, security, performance, maintainability, and reliability. 

• Ensure squad delivery meets change governance, release, and regulatory requirements. 

• Evaluate technical options and recommend appropriate technologies, frameworks, and design patterns. 

• Identify technical risks, dependencies, and constraints and recommend mitigations. 

• Support architecture decisions and ensure consistency across integrated systems. 

• Drive resolution of critical production issues requiring advanced engineering expertise. 

• Mentor engineers through coaching, knowledge sharing, and code reviews, without direct people-management accountability. 

• Collaborate with architecture, product, platform, quality, and engineering stakeholders on delivery.
