About the Role

Rosewood AMAALA is seeking an Engineering Associate Pool Technician to join its team in Saudi Arabia. This full-time role is crucial for ensuring the safe, efficient, and hygienic operation of all swimming pools, Jacuzzis, water features, and associated plumbing systems within the hotel. The technician will be responsible for maintaining water circulation, filtration, sanitation, and chemical treatment systems in strict adherence to health, safety, and hospitality standards, requiring 5-10 years of relevant experience.

Core Responsibilities

• Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies, service procedures, and standards.
• Ensure correct maintenance and use of all equipment, operating it only as intended.
• Anticipate guests’ needs, respond promptly, and acknowledge all guests at any time of day.
• Maintain positive guest relations at all times and resolve guest complaints to ensure satisfaction.
• Monitor and maintain the cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned work areas.
• Act in the capacity of Senior Technician during their absence.
• Monitor the Unifox SMMS application and respond promptly to requests for problems, assistance, or emergency work orders.

Operational Duties

• Carry out routine tests of all swimming pools, fountains, water features, Jacuzzis (internal and external), and steam baths.
• Maintain daily records of water tests and treatment, including chemical values for CL2 and PH levels, ensuring they meet standard parameters for human use.
• Check and inform the storekeeper of necessary chemical stock requirements 7 days prior to depletion, maintaining an accurate logbook.
• Inspect supply levels, cleanliness, and organization of storage areas, assigning designated personnel to rectify any deficiencies.
• Pre-plan and order materials for special projects, coordinating scheduling with department heads to eliminate conflicts.

Maintenance and Safety

• Repair and maintain all mechanical equipment, particularly within the Pool Technical Room.
• Check the operation of equipment in all pool plant rooms, heat pump plant rooms, indoor and outdoor fountain pumps, and waterfall pumps.
• Report any faulty equipment operation to the Facility and Guest Services Office, carrying out minor repairs promptly.
• Perform preventive planned maintenance (PPM) on all equipment to ensure its optimal health.
• Conduct building rounds and take gauge readings, checking for potential fire hazards, burnt-out lights, and faulty equipment.
• Check the Engineering Logbook and Night Report for information regarding problems, documenting pertinent details.
• Check and replace fused lamps in swimming pools.
• Ensure work areas and workshops are kept clean and tidy, using life safety equipment and protective gloves whilst handling chemicals (PPE is mandatory).
• Keep all pool plant rooms clean and tidy at all times.
• At the completion of work, ensure the work area is cleaned, tools and equipment are removed, and at the end of the day, all tools are in proper places with dustbins emptied.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess 5-10 years of experience in pool and plumbing system maintenance, preferably within a luxury hospitality environment. A strong understanding of water circulation, filtration, sanitation, and chemical treatment systems is essential. Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to health, safety, and hospitality standards, coupled with effective problem-solving skills for diagnosing and repairing equipment and plumbing issues. The ability to manage stock levels and coordinate with other departments is also required.

Physical Requirements

Candidates must be able to endure various physical movements throughout work areas, including reaching up and down. The role requires remaining stationary at times throughout work periods and satisfactorily communicating with guests and co-workers to their understanding.
