About Salla and the Staff Data Analyst Role

Salla is seeking a Staff Data Analyst to join its data organization. This is a senior individual contributor position, requiring 5-10 years of relevant experience. The role is full-time and based in Makkah or Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, focusing on driving significant analytical impact across the company.

Strategic Impact and Leadership

As a Staff Data Analyst, you will work directly with leadership to identify and define critical company-level problems, leading the analytical efforts to solve them. Your work will directly influence top-line and bottom-line metrics across multiple domains and product lines. This role involves tech-leading other analysts, with impact measured by the decisions you influence and the capabilities you build within the team.

Key Responsibilities

• Proactively identify key company-level problems with leadership to drive direct impact on top-line and bottom-line metrics.
• Lead strategic initiatives spanning multiple domains and product lines, ensuring measurable business impact.
• Take end-to-end ownership of broad data products and business questions, including those at the data organization level.
• Demonstrate excellent judgment in prioritizing and executing work independently and through others.
• Navigate ambiguous questions and organizational challenges to achieve impact, managing stakeholders across all levels.
• Recommend clear actions and decisions to business and product stakeholders, providing a definitive point of view.
• Influence domain roadmaps and strategy by persuading stakeholders to act based on analytical findings.
• Manage stakeholder relationships, build coalitions, and leverage them to unblock execution.
• Communicate technical knowledge clearly and didactically to all levels of the organization.
• Own the development and maintenance of key metrics with stakeholders and data peers, setting data quality standards and defining metric layers.
• Ensure data accuracy, reliability, and relevance for all analyses, accounting for data nuances and cross-checking sources.
• Clearly document methodological approaches, assumptions, caveats, statistical significance, and confidence intervals to prevent misinterpretation.
• Mentor and support the professional development of junior and mid-level team members.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• 5-10 years of experience in a data analysis role.
• Expert-level SQL, including window functions and experience with large-scale analytical databases.
• Strong proficiency in Python for analysis (pandas, NumPy, SciPy, scikit-learn, visualization libraries).
• Advanced experience with BI platforms and semantic modeling, with a focus on enabling self-serve analytics.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and structured thinking for ambiguous or complex technical problems.
• Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders without direct authority, build coalitions, and maintain a position under pressure when supported by evidence.
• Evidence of tech-leading or mentoring other analysts and elevating team standards, beyond individual output.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, capable of making complex analysis clear to executive audiences.

Desired Experience

• Experience in e-commerce, marketplaces, fintech, or other high-volume transactional domains.
• Familiarity with modern warehousing and transformation tooling (dbt, columnar databases such as ClickHouse or BigQuery).
• Experience with event-level product analytics and instrumentation design.
• Experience supporting pricing, monetization, or revenue modeling work.
• Working knowledge of version control and code review practices applied to analytics work.
