Job Title: Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) Department: Radiology Reports To: Radiology Manager
Job Summary The Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) is responsible for overseeing the hospital's radiation safety program to ensure the safe use of ionizing radiation and compliance with regulatory requirements. The role monitors radiation protection practices, conducts safety audits, provides staff training, and supports a safe environment for patients, employees, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities Develop, implement, and monitor the hospital's radiation safety program in accordance with regulatory requirements and hospital policies Conduct radiation safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments, and recommend corrective and preventive actions Provide radiation safety training and guidance to employees and support investigations of radiation-related incidents Maintain radiation safety documentation, regulatory reports, licenses, and records as required by applicable authorities
Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Radiological Sciences, or a related field Valid SCFHS professional classification and registration Healthcare or hospital experience is preferred
