Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for a Senior Product Engineer, based in Al Khobar. The Senior Product Engineer will be responsible for designing and developing new products, overseeing product enhancements, and conducting research and development activities to improve operational performance. Daily tasks include analyzing product designs for cost-efficiency, ensuring compliance with industry standards, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and troubleshooting issues in the production process to optimize performance.
Key Responsibilities: Including but not limited to:-Design Development & Product Engineering
Lead and execute design development activities for gate valves, hammer unions, OCTG products, API wellhead and pressure control equipment, and wireline tools. Develop, review, and approve engineering drawings, 3D models, calculations, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and technical specifications. Perform engineering design verification and prepare comprehensive Design Verification Reports (DVRs) in accordance with API 6A, 16A, 16C, 5CT, and 5B standards. Drive product improvement initiatives through design optimization, material selection, and value engineering. Manage Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) activities, including product data governance, engineering change workflows, and lifecycle documentation. Issue engineering change orders, technical circulars, and controlled document updates to communicate design changes across the organization.
Product Management & Customer Support
Serve as the primary technical point of contact for customer enquiries, product applications, and technical clarifications. Prepare and review technical proposals, quotations, and bid documentation in coordination with the Commercial team. Conduct customer design reviews and technical presentations to secure design approval and build customer confidence. Review contracts and sales orders to assess technical feasibility, identify risks, and ensure alignment with engineering capabilities. Provide ongoing product application support and troubleshooting guidance to customers and field service teams. Develop and maintain technical product catalogues, datasheets, and application guidelines.
Cross-Functional Collaboration with Operations
Work closely with Manufacturing to ensure design intent is accurately translated into production processes, route cards, and shop-floor instructions. Collaborate with Procurement to define material specifications, source approved vendors and validate material certifications and traceability. Coordinate with the Quality department to establish inspection and test plans (ITPs), acceptance criteria, and non-conformance resolution. Support Production Planning with technical input on capacity, lead times, and manufacturability assessments. Participate in Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) reviews and root cause analysis to drive quality improvements.
Audit Participation & Standards Compliance
Actively participate in and represent the organization during API 6A, 16A, 16C, 5CT, and 5B monogram and licensing audits. Ensure all product designs, manufacturing processes, and documentation comply with applicable API standards, international codes (ASME, NACE, ISO), and customer specifications. Maintain audit readiness by ensuring engineering records, design files, test reports, and traceability documentation are current and accessible. Support internal, external, and customer audit activities across engineering and quality functions. Monitor and communicate updates to API standards and industry regulations that impact the product portfolio.
Continuous Improvement & Knowledge Sharing
Drive continuous improvement by identifying design, process, and cost-reduction opportunities across the product range. Develop and deliver Lessons Learned presentations to strengthen organizational knowledge and prevent recurrence of issues. Contribute to technical reviews as a subject-matter expert on gate valves, hammer unions, OCTG, and wireline products. Mentor and support junior engineers in design methodologies, standards interpretation, and product knowledge.
Job Knowledge / Education:
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or industrial engineering.10–15 years of proven experience in product engineering, design development, and technical support within an Oil & Gas manufacturing, service, and repair environment. Expert-level knowledge of gate valve components (gate, seat, stem, body, bonnet, packing systems) and hammer union products. Strong understanding of OCTG products, connections, and threading standards (API 5CT, 5B, and premium connections). In-depth knowledge of API 6A, 16A, and 16C wellhead, Christmas tree, and pressure control equipment design and manufacturing requirements. Proven experience with wireline tools, including design, application, and maintenance considerations.
