Job Title: Field Compliance Coordinator – Drilling Safety & Environment
Job Overview The Field Compliance Coordinator – Drilling Safety & Environment is responsible for supporting drilling operations by ensuring effective implementation of Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards, compliance requirements, and operational safety practices. This role provides field-level HSE leadership, conducts audits and inspections, supports incident investigations, evaluates safety performance, and promotes continuous improvement in safety culture across drilling operations. The position requires strong field experience, technical HSE knowledge, and the ability to work closely with operations teams to identify risks and implement effective corrective actions.
Key Responsibilities Provide field HSE support and guidance to drilling operations, ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, occupational health, and loss prevention requirements. Conduct routine and ad-hoc HSE inspections, audits, and compliance assessments across drilling locations. Identify safety gaps, hazards, and areas of improvement; prepare detailed inspection reports and track corrective action plans through completion. Support the development and improvement of HSE processes, including risk assessments, hazard identification, emergency preparedness, contractor safety, environmental protection, and safe operating practices. Lead and participate in incident investigations, including root cause analysis, reporting, and implementation of preventive and corrective actions. Perform pre-operational and pre-start-up safety inspections for new drilling equipment and facilities. Support operational teams in preparing for internal and external HSE audits and inspections. Provide coaching, mentoring, and technical guidance to drilling supervisors, safety officers, and field personnel on HSE requirements and best practices. Monitor and evaluate safety performance through field observations, safety meetings, workplace assessments, and behavioural safety reviews. Promote a proactive safety culture through communication, training support, and continuous improvement initiatives. Requirements and Qualifications
Education Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Safety, or a related discipline from an accredited institution or equivalent.
Professional Certifications Internationally recognized safety certification such as NEBOSH IGC, IOSH, or equivalent.
Experience Minimum of 10 years of experience in HSE, safety operations, or compliance roles within the Oil & Gas industry. Minimum of 7 years of experience supporting drilling and workover operations. Proven experience conducting HSE audits, inspections, incident investigations, and risk assessments in field environments.
Technical Skills & Competencies Strong knowledge of HSE management systems and compliance frameworks. Experienced in hazard identification, risk assessment, and risk mitigation processes. Strong incident investigation and root cause analysis skills. Knowledge of emergency preparedness and response procedures. Ability to interpret safety standards, procedures, and operational requirements. Strong communication, leadership, coaching, and reporting skills. Ability to work effectively in challenging field environments and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
