Technical Lead – Diesel Generator Diagnostics, DSE Programming & Power Systems

About DNC Day & Night Company provides rental power solutions, field service, and maintenance for industrial clients, crusher plants, factories, and backup power users across Riyadh and a 400 km radius. Our fleet includes medium to large diesel generators: CAT 3412, 3508, 3306, 3406, C13, C15, C18, C32, and Perkins P2200 / P2500 / P2800. We are expanding into higher‑uptime and engineered power solutions, including Cummins engines, backup power systems, synchronization, control panels, and industrial power support.
Role Summary We are hiring a Level 3 Technical Lead to strengthen DNC’s internal capability in: Advanced generator diagnostics ECM software DSE controller programming Electrical troubleshooting Backup and synchronization systems
This is not a normal field technician and not a general operations manager role. Your purpose is to close DNC’s technical gap in diagnostics, controllers, programming, documentation, and complex power‑systems support.
You will be the senior technical escalation point for complex generator issues and power‑system projects. You will support field and workshop teams, guide root‑cause diagnosis, manage controller settings and backups, coordinate with external panel/sync vendors, and build repeatable technical documentation so the wider team can solve Level 1 and Level 2 issues without depending on you for every job.
You report to the Operations Manager and act as the top technical reference for field technicians, troubleshooters, and workshop teams.
Key Responsibilities Act as Level 3 escalation for complex mechanical, electrical, controller, ECM, AVR, alternator, wiring, and protection‑related faults on medium to large diesel generators. Use diesel engine diagnostic software to read fault codes, review engine data, identify root causes, and guide proper repairs. Program, configure, troubleshoot, back up, and restore DSE controller settings; work with Com Ap or similar controllers where applicable. Diagnose controller alarms, event logs, sensor inputs, breaker signals, wiring issues, and shutdown logic. Support synchronization and backup‑power projects (controller logic, load‑sharing basics, panel coordination, testing, and commissioning support). Coordinate and challenge external vendors (panel builders, sync specialists, commissioning teams, OEM representatives). Support field troubleshooters remotely and on‑site for complex cases without becoming the default responder for every small site issue. Create and maintain core technical documentation, including: Controller configuration backups Machine technical files ECM fault and troubleshooting reports Wiring and controller references Commissioning and test records Standard troubleshooting checklists Technician training notes and materials Train and coach technicians on systematic diagnostics, ECM usage, DSE basics, alarm capture, safe electrical practices, and proper field reporting. Work with purchasing and workshop teams to define correct parts, repair scopes, testing requirements, and return‑to‑service checks.
Non‑Negotiable Requirements 8+ years hands‑on experience with diesel generator maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair, especially medium to large units. Hands‑on experience using diesel engine diagnostic software such as CAT ET, Perkins EST, Cummins INSITE, or similar. Ability to read, interpret, and act on ECM fault codes, event history, and diagnostic data. Hands‑on experience programming, configuring, or modifying DSE generator controllers, including backing up and restoring configuration files. Strong electrical and controls background, including controllers, AVRs, alternators, wiring, sensors, protections, and generator panels. Ability to read wiring diagrams, manuals, electrical drawings, and controller documentation. Proven ability to document work, write fault summaries, and build checklists. Ability to train and guide technicians, not only fix issues personally. Valid driving license. English required. Strong Advantages Experience with Com Ap controller programming/configuration. Experience with synchronization, load sharing, AMF/ATS systems, or backup‑power projects. Experience with sync panels, CT wiring, breaker logic, protection settings, and commissioning. Experience coordinating with external panel builders, commissioning teams, or OEM representatives. Prior work in Saudi Arabia or GCC generator rental/service operations. Arabic language ability.
