The QA Manager is responsible for managing the quality assurance functions for corrugated board and carton manufacturing. The primary objective is to ensure that products consistently meet customer specifications, regulatory requirements, and international standards. This role requires driving the implementation and continuous improvement of GCF’s Integrated Management System (IMS).
MAIN TASKS
1. Quality Management System (QMS)
- Collaborate with the QHSE department to implement and maintain GCF’s Integrated Management System.
- Maintain quality procedures and ensure compliance with certification requirements, customer specifications, and regulatory obligations.
- Maintain deep familiarity with ISO 9001, 14001, 22000, 45001, and FSC standards.
2. Production Quality Control
Oversee quality control across corrugating and converting processes, including:
- Raw Material Verification: Linerboard, fluting medium, and starch adhesive.
- Corrugator Parameters: Flute formation, bonding strength, and board caliper.
- Converting Operations: Die cutting, creasing, print quality, and carton dimensional accuracy.
3. Laboratory & Testing
- Manage the factory’s laboratory and ensure testing follows recognized standards (e.g., ECT, BCT, BST, Cobb Test).
- Manage the Environmental Monitoring Program (EMP).
- Ensure proper calibration of testing equipment and maintain the reliability of laboratory results.
4. Non-Conformance & Corrective Actions
- Lead root cause investigations for non-conforming products.
- Implement and monitor Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
5. Customer & Supplier Quality
- Investigate customer complaints and coordinate necessary corrective actions.
- Support customer audits and product qualification trials.
- Evaluate and monitor suppliers (paper, inks, adhesives) to ensure quality; assist the Purchase Department in supplier approvals and audits.
6. Audits & Continuous Improvement
- Plan and lead internal quality audits and support external certification audits.
- Monitor plant quality KPIs (defect rates, customer complaints, waste levels).
- Present results during team meetings and management reviews.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, utilizing AI tools, to enhance product quality and process efficiency.
7. Team Leadership
- Supervise QC Inspectors and QC Supervisors; allocate job audits.
- Provide training on quality standards, testing procedures, and general quality awareness across production teams.
Skills
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS :
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Packaging Technology, Paper Technology, Chemistry, or
a related field.
Experience
At least 3–5 years in corrugated packaging or paper-based packaging operations.
Hands-on experience with computer packages like MS-Office and basic AI tools.
