Role Overview
The Systematics Developer (IM/ST) will lead the design, development, and implementation of modifications for the FIS Systematics Core Banking system. This role requires in-depth knowledge of how Systematics modules (specifically Information Management and Securities) interface with core banking functions, with a focus on high-throughput batch and online (CICS) environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Systematics Specialization: Design, code, and test complex applications within the Systematics Information Management (IM) and Securities (ST) modules.
- Module Integration: Work with adjacent Systematics modules (such as ALS, RM, GN, or LN) to ensure seamless integration of data and functionality.
- Development & Maintenance: Perform advanced coding in COBOL, JCL, and CICS to create or enhance existing functionality within the ST/IM framework.
- Data Management: Utilize DB2, VSAM, and SQL for data access, schema understanding, and query optimization.
- Problem Resolution: Debug and resolve complex issues (ABENDS, data discrepancies) within the ST/IM modules, providing L2/L3 support.
- Technical Documentation: Create and maintain technical specifications, program documentation, and data flow diagrams.
- Testing & Quality: Conduct unit testing, system testing, and support User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- Collaboration: Work with business analysts to translate user requirements into technical specifications within an Agile or Waterfall framework.
Skills
Required Technical Skills
- Core Banking Systematics: Strong expertise in Systematics IM (Information Management) and ST (Securities).
- Mainframe Languages: Advanced COBOL, JCL, and CICS programming skills.
- Databases: Proficiency in DB2 and VSAM.
- Tools: TSO/ISPF, Endevor (or other change management tools), File-Aid, Abend-AID.
- Analysis: Ability to understand and manage complex logic in legacy applications.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in IBM Mainframe development, specifically within the banking or financial services industry.
- Proven experience in maintaining/upgrading FIS Systematics modules.
