Job Purpose

As Senior Specialist - Transportation, involves overseeing the movement of goods from one location to another. optimizing freight costs, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing logistical support to clients. advanced knowledge of transportation modes, such as air, ocean, and trucking. ensure the efficient and timely movement of goods while minimizing costs and maximizing service levels. This involves developing and implementing transportation strategies, building and maintaining relationships with carriers and vendors, and providing strategic guidance to the organization and its clients. 

  

Job Responsibilities

  • Supply Chain and Logistics. The Senior Specialist - Transportation Is responsible for:
  • Transportation Operations Management: Overseeing and coordinating the transportation of goods, including scheduling, tracking shipments, and managing carrier relationships. 
  • Carrier Negotiations: Negotiating contracts and rates with carriers to secure competitive pricing and ensure reliable service. 
  • Freight Cost Optimization: Analyzing transportation costs and identifying opportunities to reduce expenses while maintaining service quality.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring compliance with transportation regulations, customs requirements, and trade laws to facilitate smooth and lawful movement of goods. 
  • Client Support: Providing guidance and support to clients on transportation logistics, routing options, and regulatory considerations. 
  • Transportation Strategy: Developing and implementing strategic transportation plans to optimize service levels, minimize transit times, and reduce costs. 
  • Performance Monitoring: Tracking and analyzing transportation KPIs to identify areas for improvement and drive operational efficiency. 
  • Risk Management: Identifying and mitigating transportation-related risks, such as delays, disruptions, and compliance issues. 
  • Technology Utilization: Leveraging transportation management systems and other technology solutions to streamline operations and enhance visibility. 
  • Team Leadership: Providing mentorship and leadership to transportation teams, fostering a collaborative and results-driven work environment. 
  • Policies, Systems, Processes, Procedures, Standards and Reports
  • Follow all relevant functional policies, processes, standard operating procedures, and instructions to ensure that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner. 
  • Assist in the preparation of accurate and timely functional MIS statements and reports to meet corporate and functional requirements, policies, and standards.
  • Safety, Quality & Environment 
  • Apply safety, quality and environmental management policies, procedures, and controls to ensure employee safety, legislative compliance, delivery of high-quality products/service and a responsible environmental attitude.
  • Contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of department’s systems, processes and practices considering ‘international best practice’, improvement of business processes, cost reduction and productivity improvement.

 

Qualification and Experience           

  • Recognized degree in Business, Analytics or Data Management related field (MBA preferred)
  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years in a supply chain and logistics operations field (preferred)
  • Team player.
