HVAC Acoustic Design Engineer

السعودية

The HVAC Acoustic Design Engineer is responsible for the design, engineering, and validation of noise control solutions for industrial and commercial HVAC systems. This role ensures all installations meet acoustic comfort, safety, and regulatory standards while providing technical leadership to the commercial and sales teams.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

1. Technical Design & Acoustic Solutions

  • Acoustic Simulation: Perform detailed acoustic calculations and modeling to predict noise levels and optimize system performance using industry-standard software.
  • Product Selection: Generate precise technical selections for Sound Attenuators, Acoustic Louvers, and Acoustic Enclosures based on client requirements and mechanical schedules.
  • Custom Engineering: Develop cost-effective, innovative acoustic solutions to resolve complex noise problems.
  • System Integration: Design noise control paths to achieve specific Noise Criteria (NC) levels for:
  • Air Handling Units (AHU): Supply and Return air paths.
  • Ventilation Systems: Fresh Air, Exhaust, and Car Park fans.
  • Power Generation: Air intake/discharge attenuators and generator room acoustics.

2. Standards & Compliance

  • Regulatory Alignment: Ensure all designs and products strictly comply with international standards including ASHRAE, SMACNA, and DW 144, as well as local environmental noise ordinances.
  • Quality Assurance: Maintain a deep understanding of the company’s manufacturing capabilities to ensure all proposed designs are technically feasible, manufacturable, and high-performing.

3. Commercial & Sales Support

  • Technical Expert: Collaborate with Regional Sales Managers as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) during client meetings and technical presentations.
  • Proposal Management: Prepare accurate technical submittals, providing critical data (e.g., Insertion Loss, Static Pressure Drop) to support and secure project awards.

4. Collaboration & Execution

  • Cross-Functional Teamwork: Partner with production and management teams to ensure a seamless transition from the design phase to physical execution.
  • Client Relationship Management: Serve as the primary technical point of contact for consultants and contractors regarding acoustic performance, troubleshooting, and site verification.

Skills

Education & Experience

  • Degree: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or Acoustics.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of proven experience in HVAC acoustic design and industrial noise control.

Technical Skills

  • Core Fundamentals: Strong Knowledge of sound wave physics, frequency analysis, decibel arithmetic, room acoustics, and environmental noise control.
  • Software Proficiency: Experience with acoustic selection software and CAD/BIM platforms (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit).
  • Analytical & Mathematical Skills: Advanced ability to interpret mechanical drawings, analyze noise spectra, and perform octave band data calculations.

Soft Skills

  • Communication & Teamwork: Proven ability to translate complex acoustic data into clear, actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders and clients.
  • Problem Solving & Self- motivation: A proactive approach to resolving design conflicts between airflow requirements and noise reduction targets.
