The Electrical Engineer is responsible for the design, installation, operation, and maintenance oversight of electrical systems in water and wastewater treatment facilities. This role ensures reliable power supply, safe operation of electrical equipment, and integration with control and automation systems to support continuous water and wastewater operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, install, and supervise electrical systems for water treatment plants, wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations, and distribution networks.
- Ensure proper operation of electrical equipment including motors, pumps, switchgear, transformers, panels, and backup generators.
- Conduct inspections, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems and ensure compliance with engineering standards and specifications.
- Coordinate with operations, mechanical, and instrumentation teams to ensure seamless integration of electrical and control systems.
- Perform troubleshooting and provide solutions for electrical faults or system failures.
- Develop and review maintenance plans for electrical systems to ensure reliability and prevent downtime.
- Prepare technical reports, documentation, and electrical schematics for projects and ongoing operations.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations.
- Support projects, upgrades, and modifications, including liaising with contractors and suppliers.
- Provide technical support during emergencies or abnormal operating conditions.
Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
- Experience in electrical engineering within water and wastewater treatment facilities or utility infrastructure.
- Knowledge of electrical systems, switchgear, motors, generators, panels, and control systems used in water/wastewater plants.
- Experience with SCADA and automation systems (preferred).
- Familiarity with local and international electrical standards and safety regulations.
- Ability to work in operational facilities and manage multiple projects or maintenance activities.
