SCADA Operator – Water & Wastewater Treatment

The SCADA Operator is responsible for monitoring, controlling, and optimizing water and wastewater treatment processes through the SCADA system. The role ensures continuous, safe, and efficient operation of water treatment plants, wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations, reservoirs, and distribution networks, while maintaining compliance with operational, safety, and regulatory standards.


Key Responsibilities


  • Monitor and control water and wastewater treatment processes using SCADA systems in real time.
  • Operate and adjust treatment parameters including flow rates, pressure, chemical dosing, tank levels, and pump operations.
  • Respond promptly to alarms, system faults, and abnormal operating conditions, taking corrective actions as required.
  • Coordinate with field operators, maintenance teams, and engineers to troubleshoot equipment and system issues.
  • Ensure continuous operation of water treatment plants, wastewater treatment plants, lift stations, and distribution networks.
  • Record operational data, trends, and events; prepare daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports.
  • Support startup, shutdown, and emergency response procedures for water and wastewater facilities.
  • Ensure compliance with water quality standards, environmental regulations, and health & safety procedures.
  • Assist in testing, commissioning, and upgrading of SCADA systems and field instrumentation.
  • Maintain accurate logs, shift handover reports, and operational documentation.
  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and contribute to process optimization and efficiency improvement

Skills

  • Experience with SCADA systems (e.g., Siemens, Schneider, ABB, Rockwell, Wonderware, iFix, or similar).
  • Good understanding of water treatment and wastewater treatment processes (filtration, disinfection, biological treatment, sludge handling, etc.).
  • Knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, field instrumentation, and telemetry systems.
  • Familiarity with water quality parameters and regulatory requirements.
