Job Title: Woodwork Estimator
Job Summary:
The Woodwork Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates and quotations for joinery, furniture, and interior fit-out projects. This role involves analyzing drawings, specifications, and material requirements to ensure that all estimates align with client expectations and company profitability goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review architectural drawings, technical specifications, and project requirements to determine material, labor, and time costs.
- Prepare detailed cost breakdowns and quotations for woodworking, cabinetry, and custom joinery projects.
- Source and compare supplier and subcontractor quotations to ensure competitive pricing.
- Collaborate with the design, production, and procurement teams to clarify details and ensure feasibility.
- Identify potential cost-saving opportunities and value-engineering solutions.
- Maintain an up-to-date database of material prices, labor rates, and supplier information.
- Attend project meetings and liaise with clients or contractors to clarify scope and resolve discrepancies.
- Assist in the preparation of tender documents and bid submissions.
- Monitor ongoing projects to compare estimated versus actual costs and adjust future estimates accordingly.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field (preferred).
- Proven experience as an Estimator in woodworking, joinery, or fit-out industry.
- Strong knowledge of woodworking materials, finishes, and production methods.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Excel, and estimation software (e.g., PlanSwift, Bluebeam, or similar).
- Excellent mathematical, analytical, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Preferred Experience:
- 3+ years of experience in woodwork or joinery estimation.
- Experience in commercial interiors, furniture manufacturing, or custom joinery projects.
- Understanding of site measurements and shop drawings.
