Senior Manager - Dry Utilities Field Operations and Maintenance

Job Purpose:

The role will be   managing  Operations and Maintenance of all Utility assets The role shall closely lead all in-field operations and maintenance processes, manage on-site teams, and execute improvements to in-field operational methods wherever needed as directed by senior management. 

The Senior Manager of Operations and Maintenance will also lead the maintenance department by working towards goals, improving KPIs, supervising staff, and implementing safety measures. 

The role will work closely with the remaining operations and maintenance functions by overseeing and conducting regular inspections and scheduled a reliability  activities,. This also includes coordinating with suppliers or vendors to ensure that all operations and maintenance work is carried out efficiently.

 

Job Responsibilities:

 

Strategic Contribution 

  • Ensure all Utility assets are  maintained and operated at maximum efficiency and reliability. 

  • Ensure any faults or repairs are  attended to within the agreed SLA’s.  

  • Oversee the execution of all field operation and maintenance plans and ensure reliable utility services to the end customer 

 

Field Operations & Maintenance 

  • Oversee all vendors and suppliers’ work to ensure maximum reliability for all utility services 

  • Manage daily field operations and lead the improvement of operational procedures. 

  • Oversee system maintenance, including regular on-site checks, repairs, and component replacements. 

  • Provide oversight and support for water treatment lab-related activities and processes. 

  • Provide oversight and support for the execution of incident management procedures and guidelines. 

  • Ensure operations and maintenance are according to industry standards, laws, regulations, and safety guidelines. 

  • Lead and manage field operations and maintenance teams. 

  • Plan maintenance and inspection activities periodically 

  • Comply with the set budget for operations and maintenance to ensure efficiency. 

  • Communicate and relay progress and status updates senior management on an incidents, and maintenance activities 

  • Apply contingency measures and plans in case of emergencies around incident management and reliability 

  • Incorporate of world-class reliability standards and measures . 

 

Leadership 

  • Coordinate the activities of any suppliers or vendors to ensure that all work is carried out efficiently, in line with the strategic project management plans, policies and procedures. 

  • Manage the team by setting priorities and objectives, managing performances, and providing ongoing feedback and coaching to meet the functional challenges and goals.   

  • Serve as a role model to ensure employees’ awareness and commitment to RSG vision, mission, values, fundamentals, and corporate strategy to establish a highly engaged and motivated human resources, and continuously improve performance. 

  • Relay the team’s needs for necessary resources and requirements to senior management 

 

Policies, Systems, Processes, Procedures, Standards and Reports 

  • Follow all relevant functional policies, processes, standard operating procedures, and instructions to ensure that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.  

  •  Provide the necessary information and data for the preparation of accurate and timely functional MIS statements and reports to meet corporate and functional requirements, policies, and standards. 

  •  Analyze operational and maintenance-related processes to identify areas of efficiency. 

 

Safety, Quality & Environment  

  • Apply safety, quality and environmental management policies, procedures, and controls to ensure employee safety, legislative compliance, delivery of high-quality products/service and a responsible environmental attitude

 

Continuous Improvement    

  • Identify  opportunities for continuous improvement  to the department’s systems, processes and practices considering ‘international best practice’, improvement of business processes, cost reduction and productivity improvement. 

  • Assess operational processes and develop improvement strategies to enhance efficiency and continuously enhance reliability 

  • Ensure that all operations are carried out according to best practices and standards, adopt technology to improve efficiency, safety, and customer satisfaction. 

 

Qualification & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering with Electrical/Mechanical/Telecommunication technology 

  •  8-12 years of relevant experience with at least one year as project lead/manager
