Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Field Electrical Engineer to lead and manage on-site electrical installation and testing activities. This role requires technical expertise, hands-on experience, and active coordination with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful execution of electrical works as per project standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of all electrical-related activities at the site.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, industry standards (NEC, IEC, etc.), and quality protocols.
- Supervise the installation of electrical systems, including LV/HV systems, MCC panels, distribution transformers, and substation equipment.
- Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of control panels, lighting systems, and power distribution systems.
- Review and validate electrical design plans, single-line diagrams, and specifications.
- Ensure timely completion of loop checks, high-pot tests, and other electrical testing activities, as well as proper documentation of results.
- Oversee the development of electrical test packages and manage related documentation.
- Identify and mitigate any risks related to electrical design, materials, and construction.
- Ensure compliance with HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) standards on-site.
- Coordinate with QA/QC teams for inspection and testing of electrical systems to ensure compliance with relevant standards and codes.
- Monitor and report on project progress, addressing any issues that may impact timelines or costs.
- Collaborate with project managers, procurement, and design teams to ensure timely material delivery and accurate site readiness.
- Supervise subcontractors and ensure their adherence to project timelines and technical requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering or related engineering fields.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in electrical engineering roles, with at least 3 years in a site-based capacity.
- Strong knowledge of electrical materials, specifications, and industry codes (NEC, IEC, etc.).
- Hands-on experience in the planning, coordination, and execution of electrical works on industrial projects (refineries, petrochemical, or power plants).
- Ability to read and interpret single-line diagrams, schematics, and electrical layouts.
- Proficiency in developing and managing test packages for electrical systems.
- Knowledge of loop tests, high-pot testing, and commissioning best practices.
- Familiarity with HSE standards and a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
- Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in project tracking, material planning, and site coordination.
Preferred Qualifications
- International work experience on large-scale industrial projects.
- Knowledge of inspection and NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) methods.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with third-party inspectors and auditors.
- Experience with BMS (Building Management Systems), SCADA, and PLCs.
