Job Title: Logistics Supervisor

Job Overview:

The Logistics Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of logistics activities, including transportation, warehousing, inventory management, and order fulfillment. This role ensures that logistics operations are efficient, cost-effective, and meet company and customer expectations. The Logistics Supervisor leads a team of logistics personnel, coordinates with other departments, and ensures compliance with safety and legal standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Team Supervision & Leadership:
  • Supervise and direct the logistics team, including warehouse staff, drivers, and inventory clerks.
  • Provide training, coaching, and performance evaluations for team members.
  • Foster a collaborative, productive, and positive working environment.
  • Assign tasks to logistics personnel and ensure they meet deadlines.
  1. Transportation Coordination:
  • Oversee the planning and execution of transportation activities, ensuring timely delivery of goods.
  • Monitor transportation schedules and routes to ensure efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Liaise with third-party logistics providers and drivers to resolve issues such as delays or damages.
  • Ensure compliance with transportation regulations and safety standards.
  1. Inventory Management:
  • Maintain accurate inventory levels through regular checks and reports.
  • Monitor stock movement and ensure proper storage and handling of products.
  • Oversee inventory organization and location management within the warehouse.
  • Coordinate with procurement and production departments to ensure inventory is replenished as needed.
  1. Warehouse Operations:
  • Supervise warehouse operations, including receiving, sorting, storing, and shipping products.
  • Ensure safe and efficient use of warehouse space.
  • Implement best practices for warehouse organization and inventory control.
  • Ensure that all materials are stored safely and handled according to company guidelines.
  1. Process Improvement:
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational processes, reduce costs, and enhance service delivery.
  • Implement and monitor continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean or 5S practices.
  • Maintain high standards of customer service and ensure that logistics operations contribute to customer satisfaction.
  1. Health, Safety & Compliance:
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations in the warehouse, transportation, and logistics operations.
  • Conduct safety training for the logistics team and enforce safety policies and practices.
  • Ensure compliance with legal requirements regarding product handling, transportation, and customs.
  1. Reporting & Documentation:
  • Prepare and maintain records related to shipments, inventory, and transportation activities.
  • Monitor logistics performance metrics such as delivery times, costs, and inventory accuracy.
  • Provide regular reports on logistics operations to upper management, highlighting challenges and suggesting improvements.
  1. Problem Solving & Issue Resolution:
  • Address and resolve any logistics-related issues, such as delays, discrepancies, or complaints.
  • Handle customer complaints regarding deliveries and coordinate with the customer service team to ensure resolutions.
  • Troubleshoot logistics challenges and work proactively to prevent future issues.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field preferred).
  • Proven experience in logistics, warehouse management, or transportation supervision.
  • Leadership experience with the ability to manage, motivate, and develop a team.
  • Knowledge of inventory management systems and logistics software.
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Good understanding of logistics, transportation regulations, and safety standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) or transportation management systems (TMS).
  • Certification in logistics or supply chain management (e.g., CLT, CILT).
  • Experience with process improvement methodologies like Lean or Six Sigma.

Work Environment:

  • The role may involve working in both office and warehouse settings, and the supervisor may need to be present on the warehouse floor during peak times.
  • Regular communication with team members, other departments (e.g., procurement, production, customer service), and third-party logistics providers.
  • Occasionally required to handle urgent or unexpected situations, such as delivery delays or inventory discrepancies.

  • On-time delivery performance.
  • Inventory accuracy rate.
  • Warehouse efficiency (e.g., order pick rates, space utilization).
  • Transportation cost management.
