- Act as the institution lead competent person for HSE and provide professional leadership and advice and support on Health, Safety and Environment. ·
- Promote occupational health, safety and environment throughout EnergyTech.
- Work proactively with managers and seniors across faculties and departments to establish and maintain effective policies, systems and processes to underpin a positive safety culture.
- Provide professional advice to EnergyTech on all matters of health, safety and emergency planning.
- Influence overall health and safety strategy and provide advice to EnergyTech Health and Safety Committee.
- Advise and support those who have health, safety and environment management responsibilities to develop their health, safety and environment management skills to an appropriate level.
- Organizing, maintaining and utilizing EnergyTech health, safety and environment management system.
- Ensuring that incident reporting processes are utilized consistently and effectively.
- Monitoring the implementation of EnergyTech health, safety and environment strategy and management plans.
- Monitoring the effectiveness of Faculty and Departmental health and safety inspections and identifying if there is non-compliance with relevant health, safety and environment legislation or EnergyTech Policy.
- Manage HSE training and safety event procedures for EnergyTech employees/ students.
- Develop and maintain high quality policies, procedures and guidance to underpin effective safety management systems.
- Provide training on and support for risk assessment.
- Ensure an appropriate infrastructure is in place to ensure workplace and workshops risk assessments are completed, reviewed and acted upon.
- Where required, assist managers and seniors in the assessments of risks relating to activities under their control and support them to identify appropriate control measures.
- Work with EnergyTech managers and seniors to implement risk management and safety processes and control and mitigate risks.
- Carry out audits to evaluate the effectiveness of Health, Safety and Environment systems and procedures and identify and implement improvements.
- Investigate, or assist others to investigate incidents and accidents. Identify and analyze the circumstances and causes of accidents and take necessary steps to prevent a reoccurrence.
- Provide investigation reports to an agreed standard and ensure appropriate records are maintained.
- Maintain close and constructive working relationships with external agencies such as the Police, Medical Service and Fire Service.
- Maintain program of fire risk assessments and fire drill.
