Job Summary
The Hazardous Waste Logistics Manager is responsible for overseeing the safe and efficient transportation, storage, and disposal of hazardous waste materials. This role involves ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, managing logistics operations, and coordinating with various stakeholders to maintain safety and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Regulatory Compliance
Ensure all hazardous waste management practices comply with applicable regulations (e.g., EPA, DOT, OSHA)
Stay updated on changes in hazardous waste regulations and implement necessary changes in operations
Logistics Coordination:
Plan and oversee the transportation of hazardous waste materials from generation points to disposal facilities.
Coordinate with waste generators, transporters, and disposal facilities to ensure timely and safe waste management.
Safety Management:
Develop and implement safety protocols for hazardous waste handling and transportation
Conduct regular safety audits and training sessions for staff involved in hazardous waste logistics
Inventory Management:
Maintain accurate records of hazardous waste inventory, including tracking quantities, types, and disposal methods
Ensure proper labeling and documentation of hazardous waste materials
Team Leadership:
Supervise and train logistics staff, ensuring they are knowledgeable about hazardous waste regulations and safety practices
Foster a culture of safety and environmental responsibility within the team
Stakeholder Communication
Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders regarding hazardous waste logistics.
Prepare reports and presentations for management and regulatory agencies as needed
Emergency Response Planning.
Develop and implement emergency response plans for hazardous waste incidents
Conduct drills and training to prepare staff for potentially hazardous waste emergencies
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in environmental science, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in hazardous waste management or logistics, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
Strong knowledge of hazardous waste regulations and compliance requirements
Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
