ROLE OVERVIEW
The Senior Safety Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting the Safety Manager in maintaining a safe working environment by ensuring compliance with safety standards, conducting detailed risk assessments, and implementing safety improvements. This role requires hands-on expertise in safety protocols, incident investigation, and hazard control measures. The Senior Safety Specialist will actively contribute to the development of training programs and engage with various teams to foster a safety-first culture. The Senior Safety Specialist will report directly to the Safety Manager.
REQUIREMENTS SUMMARY

ROLE COMPETENCIES & ACTIVITIES
Risk Assessment and Hazard Control
- Conduct detailed risk assessments to identify potential hazards in the workplace.
- Implement and monitor hazard control measures to mitigate identified risks.
- Work with the Safety Lead to ensure that all safety protocols are up-to-date and effective.
- Perform safety audits and inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
Incident Investigation and Root Cause Analysis
- Lead and support incident investigations to determine root causes.
- Document findings and develop action plans to prevent recurrence.
- Prepare detailed incident reports for the Safety Lead and management.
- Use data analysis to identify trends and recommend safety improvements.
Training and Competency Development
- Assist in the development and delivery of targeted safety training programs.
- Facilitate safety workshops and drills to enhance team awareness and preparedness.
- Evaluate training effectiveness and propose updates based on feedback and incident data.
- Encourage continuous learning and development of safety skills across the organization.
Collaboration and Safety Promotion
- Work closely with the Safety Lead to ensure alignment with safety objectives.
- Promote a culture of safety through regular communication and engagement with teams.
- Act as a safety ambassador, motivating colleagues to adopt best safety practices.
- Provide guidance to employees on safety-related issues and concerns.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

- Minimum of 4 years of experience in safety operations, risk management, or related fields.
- Proven ability to conduct risk assessments and implement hazard control measures.
- Strong problem-solving skills to address safety challenges effectively.
- Experience in delivering safety training and driving team engagement.
- High level of emotional intelligence and communication skills.
Qualifications
- Relevant Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Safety Management, Occupational Health, or a related field.
- Professional safety certifications (e.g., OSHA, NEBOSH) are preferred.
