Primary objective:
The Director of IT will manage the IT infrastructure, services, and support systems across the school, ensuring operational excellence. This role will play a critical role in enhancing the school’s cybersecurity, networking, infrastructure, and IT governance frameworks while delivering a high level of service for both administrative and academic IT needs. They will collaborate with other service departments and senior leaders to ensure the school’s digital services and platforms meet the highest standards.
Areas of responsibility:
• Oversee and manage the school’s IT services, including network infrastructure, IT governance, ERP systems, and other operational platforms.
• Ensure seamless operation of IT systems across the campus, minimizing downtime, and maximizing service availability.
• Develop and maintain a strategic IT roadmap in alignment with school needs and technological advancements.
• Lead the ITIL-based help desk to provide efficient support and service for all users.
• Coordinate and act as point of contact with Misk foundation for cybersecurity protocols.
• Manage data governance, disaster recovery plans, and risk registers.
• Collaborate with the Vice Principal Innovation, Executive Leadership Team and Senior Leadership Teams to align IT strategy with the school’s goals and objectives.
• Oversee IT budgeting and forecasting, ensuring cost-effective procurement and resource management.
• Plan, forecast, and monitor all aspects of the academic and operational IT budget needs, and liaise with stakeholders for input and collaboration.
• Develop and implement policies related to digital technology use, IT security, and data protection.
• Manage all aspects of the school’s network infrastructure, including Wi-Fi, firewalls, and cloud services.
• Ensure the maintenance and updating of hardware, software, and IT systems as per best industry practices.
• Lead strategic projects such as the deployment of smart city integrations, digital signage, and smart building systems.
• Lead, manage, and develop the IT team, ensuring continued professional growth and training.
• Foster collaboration across departments and maintain communication with all stakeholders regarding IT needs and projects.
• Conduct regular reviews of team performance and set strategic goals for continuous improvement.
• Manage relationships with external vendors, ensuring service level agreements (SLAs) are met.
• Oversee IT audits, compliance with regulatory frameworks, and continuous improvement of IT processes.
• Undertake additional duties as and when required by the line manager.
Safeguarding:
• The post holder will be required to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people and follow the school’s safeguarding policies and the staff code of conduct. They will directly support the designated safeguarding lead as a priority to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students at the school.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or any related field (essential).
• Master’s degree in Information Technology or any related field (desirable).
Experience:
• +10 years of experience in IT felid.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
• Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to inspire and develop IT staff.
• Deep knowledge of networking, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and operational IT services.
• Expertise in IT governance, data protection, and risk management, including PDPL or GDPR compliance.
• Excellent communication skills to interact with senior leadership and external stakeholders.
• Analytical mindset with the ability to assess and implement innovative technologies to support educational and operational goals.
• Proficiency with Microsoft and Google ecosystems, Active Directory, Azure, and networking and IT service management tools.
