Job Overview
The Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment for all employees and stakeholders. This role involves collaboration with various departments, contractors, and external partners to promote best safety practices and ensure compliance with industry standards. The Safety Manager plays a key role in risk assessment, incident investigations, and training programs, fostering a culture of continuous improvement in workplace safety. The Safety Manager reports directly to the Head of Corporate Safety and Compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Compliance and Standards - Ensure adherence to Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) standards and the ISO Safety Management System. Effectively communicate OHS requirements, and develop and implement related policies and procedures.
- Risk Management - Oversee site compliance, manage incidents, investigate causes, and recommend preventive measures.
- Performance Monitoring - Develop and lead OHS KPIs, evaluate safety programs, and prepare safety reports.
- Training and Awareness - Conduct training programs, organize safety campaigns, and promote OHS performance across the organization.
- Audits and Inspections - Perform internal audits, assist with external audits, and ensure compliance across all safety measures.
- Stakeholder Engagement - Communicate OHS policies, develop training programs, and participate in safety meetings and committees.
- Documentation - Maintain and update safety risk management systems and project documentation.
Skills
Qualifications and Skills
- Experience - 10+ years of experience in large-scale infrastructure and road projects. Experience in the MENA region (up to 5 years).
- Language Proficiency - Advanced proficiency in English (Arabic is a plus).
- Technical Skills - Strong MS Office skills and familiarity with project management tools.
- Leadership and Team Coordination - Strong leadership and team coordination capabilities.
- Communication and Representation - Excellent communication and representation skills.
- Work Under Pressure - Ability to work under pressure and lead teams effectively.
- Driver’s License - Valid driver's license and active driving ability.
- Safety Management - Experience in safety management, risk assessment, and implementing safety protocols.
- Standards Proficiency - Strong knowledge of safety standards, regulations, and best practices.
- Incident Investigation - Expertise in incident investigation and root cause analysis.
- Training Competence - Ability to develop and deliver safety training and competency programs.
