We are seeking a dedicated Health and Safety Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring a safe and healthy work environment by developing, implementing, and overseeing safety programs and policies. This role requires a strong understanding of safety regulations, risk management, and effective communication skills.
Responsibilities:
1. Risk Assessment: Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implement corrective measures.
2. Policy Development: Develop, update, and enforce health and safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
3. Training and Education: Design and deliver training programs for employees on safety practices, emergency procedures, and compliance regulations.
4. Incident Investigation: Investigate accidents and near misses to identify root causes and recommend preventative measures.
5. Compliance Monitoring: Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and standards and prepare reports for management and regulatory agencies.
6. Emergency Preparedness: Develop and implement emergency response plans and conduct drills to ensure readiness for various emergency scenarios.
7. Collaboration: Work closely with management and employees to promote a culture of safety and facilitate open communication regarding health and safety issues.
8. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, training sessions, and incidents, and analyze data to identify trends.
Qualifications:
- Diploma's degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Certification (such as NEBOSH, OSHA, or equivalent) is preferred.
- Proven experience in health and safety management, preferably in a similar industry.
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations and best practices.
