KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & ACTIVITIES
Transportation Planning and Implementation
- Lead the external transportation companies coordination efforts to ensure effective implementation of transportation plans derived from operational strategies.
- Collaborate with logistics partners and clusters to communicate schedules and make necessary adjustments, ensuring seamless alignment with overall operational goals.
- Establish and maintain communication channels with external transportation companies, facilitating the smooth execution of centrally planned logistics operations.
- Oversee the tendering and evaluation process with external transportation companies under the oversight of the General Procurement department to negotiate favourable terms to achieve cost-effective logistics operations aligned with overarching operational plans.
Transportation Quality Assurance and Compliance
Monitor transportation service quality provided by external companies and coordinate closely with the General Procurement department to ensure alignment with established standards.
Adhere to transportation regulations, safety protocols, and legal requirements to prevent legal risks.
Maintain accurate records and reports related to transportation activities, including any deviations or incidents to identify and mitigate risks associated with transportation operations.
Conduct regular audits of transportation processes and procedures to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance with organizational policies.
Collaborate with cross-functional team to optimize transportation logistics and support overall business objectives.
Implement robust contingency plans to address unforeseen disruptions or emergencies in transportation services and minimize potential impacts on operations.
Evaluate key performance indicators (KPIs) related to transportation operations, such as on-time delivery rates and cost per mile, to measure performance and drive operational improvements.
Foster a culture of safety and accountability within the transportation department, always promoting adherence to safety standards and protocols.
Internal and External Stakeholder Engagement
Foster strong relationships with external transportation companies to build trust and collaboration and ensure long-term partnerships.
Collaborate closely with procurement teams and branches within the operation department to develop comprehensive transportation strategies that support organizational objectives and meet operational needs.
Implement effective communication channels and protocols to ensure seamless coordination and information sharing among relevant teams within the operation department.
Utilize feedback mechanisms such as surveys and performance reviews to gather insights from stakeholders and identify opportunities for enhancing transportation processes and services.
Organize workshops for internal and external stakeholders to promote understanding of transportation processes, requirements, and best practices, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration.
Continuous Improvement and Cost Efficiency
Conduct comprehensive evaluations of transportation processes to pinpoint inefficiencies and streamline operations for improved effectiveness.
Define key performance indicators (KPIs) tailored to transportation operations, tracking metrics such as delivery times, fuel efficiency, and customer satisfaction to drive continuous improvement.
Engage closely with finance and procurement teams to develop transportation budgets that prioritize efficiency and cost savings, allocating resources effectively to support organizational objectives.
Implement data-driven decision-making processes, leveraging analytics and insights to inform strategic transportation planning and resource allocation.
Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance transportation efficiency and reduce costs while maintaining service quality standards.
Foster collaboration and information sharing among cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment of transportation strategies with broader organizational goals and priorities.
Regularly review and refine transportation budgets and spending plans in response to changing market conditions, business requirements, and cost-saving opportunities..
Qualifications/Requirements
Knowledge and Experience
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
Education
- Diploma’s /Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, logistics, communication, or any other related field.
