Role Purpose

 

This role will be responsible for strategic direction and management for hospitality assets development within the Region. This is a critical role and this person will utilize their expertise to develop the right strategy, to deliver growth and profitability results and drive the performance of the Hospitality offerings within Trojena balancing between the benefit of creating a successful destination as well as optimizing the value of the assets. This role engages with stakeholders and operators to gather insights into market trends, industry practice, and to negotiate the right agreements with the right stakeholders. To provide the management input into all project delivery related matters and be fully responsible for the successful delivery of these assets. The role also includes oversight to ensure successful delivery of all relevant projects execution (construction) till handing over to operations.

 

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & ACTIVITIES

Real Estate / Development

Oversee comprehensive strategy for the optimization of the hospitality offerings within Trojena region.  Assess the alternative development options for each of the assets and how it will contribute to the success of the region. Review of all hospitably concept strategies, key offerings, development programs and design packages related to the project and all enabling sub-projects, through close coordination within NEOM Mountain teams as well as NEOM Urban Development, Projects, Hospitality and other departments.

 

Work closely with Trojena functional teams to review and endorse strategies, differentiated offerings and experiences, development programs and business cases for the Regional Plan.

 

Lead the development of the design briefs and scopes of work to ensure those packages meet the strategic intent and requirements and comply with relevant international Standards and Best Practice.

 

Engage in the negotiations of Agreements with potential operators and partners to ensure maximum value to Trojena.  Collaborate with colleague leaders across the company to enhance culture of experience offering excellence, elevate the quality of design, experience and offerings and ensure each development cycle is approved before proceeding to the next development cycle.

 

Liaise closely with senior management to successfully schedule and manage the transition of key functions and information from the strategy and design phase to implementation/commissioning phase.

 

Work closely with senior management, utilizing extensive business experience to ensure all business cases are reviewed and approved before submitting for approval.

 

Actively participate in the preparation and review of design briefs and scopes of work, from master planning to conceptual design to detailed design, through close coordination with other departments.

 

A highly experienced, strategically-minded and results-driven practitioner, with an accomplished international background in the conceptualization, communication, management and development of complex high-end, hospitality development. The person should have a clear commitment to an integrated design philosophy and be capable of bringing together, in an innovative and efficient manner, a broad range of specialist contributors across business and disciplines. They should be capable of communicating complex design concepts simply and efficiently to multi-national clients and managing multiple projects and teams.

 

The ideal candidate will have the ability to lead high-level stakeholder engagements, including private developers, institutional customers and public sector bodies.

 

The responsibilities shall include, but shall not be limited to the following:

  • Develop long-term working relationships and collaborative agreements with key stakeholders.
  • Development of a strong industry profile and act as a knowledge base for hospitality development.
  • The ability to clearly communicate technical and design concepts through reports and presentations.
  • Assisting in research and development initiatives, knowledge dissemination and implementation.
  • Prepare and assist in the drafting of technical brochures, presentations and literature to promote the Practice.

BACKGROUND, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • In-Depth knowledge of hospitality industry and offerings evolutions, including operations, design, planning, development policies, and current industry trends is essential.
  • Experience and understanding of working in a liberal and progressive equal opportunity team environment comprised of diverse individuals.
  • Willingness and ability to be proactive in securing new work as part of the team and individually.
  • Experience of high-level stakeholder facing needs.
  • Able to manage and mentor team leaders of multiple projects.
  • Ability to author reports, designs and communications for issue.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills, and the ability to develop and maintain mutually beneficial internal and external client and stakeholder relationships, frequently in politically sensitive environments.
  • Ability to understand, probe and translate material produced by technical specialists for communication to clients.
  • Working knowledge of web-based project management systems, such as ACONEX, PMWEB or similar.
  • Knowledge of the various hospitality operating agreement types and structures, TSAs’, design contracts, project management as well as construction execution.
  • Excellent communication skills, flexible and self-confident.
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural & collaborative environment.
  • Preferably 10 years of Middle East experience.
  • Fluent in English, written and spoken. Arab speaking will be an advantage.
  • Sound experience in engineering design development.
  • Experience in an Engineering Design Contractor environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve results and drive to succeed.
  • Ability to work independently and proactively while simultaneously leading and managing a wide number of ongoing projects.
  • Ability to work with diverse and cross functional teams.
  • Leadership skills to set clear goals, motivate a team and produce superior results under challenging schedules.
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation abilities with strong organizational skills and capacity to work under pressure.

 

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality / Retail / Entertainment / Leisure Management and at least 20 years of working experience in a related field

 

Master Degree in real estate, hospitality, architecture or related fields from a recognized university, typically 20 + years of related international work experience in hospitality resort development.
