Manager, IT Applications

Job Purpose
The job holder is responsible for ensuring efficient and effective software application operation. They prevent downtime and performance issues, ensure compliance with IMI policies and industry standards, and protect IMI from security breaches. They oversee application operations, support IT projects, and provide technical support to end-users.
Key Accountabilities
Contributes to the formulation of IMI’s Information Technology strategy.
Ensures alignment of the IT Applications Department’s efforts in implementing IMI’s Information Technology strategy.
Develops and monitors the IT Applications Department’s procedures, and guidelines in collaboration with the other IT departments.
Monitors performance of the applications against KPIs and objectives regularly.
Recommends improvements and efficiencies in line with IMI’s corporate priorities.
Develops and monitors the annual budget of the IT Application Department in collaboration with the IT planning team.
Develop and execute strategic plans for the IMI’s application portfolio, aligning technology initiatives with business goals.
Lead the application development teams in designing, coding, testing, and deploying high-quality software applications.
Oversee the entire software development life cycle, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
Collaborate with business leaders and stakeholders to understand their needs, gather requirements, and prioritize development initiatives.
Enforce quality assurance processes to ensure the reliability, security, and performance of applications.
Develop and manage budgets for application development and support activities.
Allocate resources effectively to ensure the successful execution of projects and ongoing support.
Oversee the integration of deployed applications across IMI.
Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation and competitiveness.
Ensures constant communications and coordination within IMI to determine and satisfy applications' requirements.
Manages requirements gathering, design, development, testing, quality assurance, and implementation and training for both in-house built and purchased applications.
Coordinates with vendors for ERP, Engineering and other application implementation, update and maintenance.
Manages the technical research and development related to applications to identify improvement opportunities and enable continuing innovation.
Manages the installation, configuration, testing, and deployment of new applications, and enhancements to existing applications throughout IMI to meet business needs.
Designs and configures new solutions and services and enhancements to existing systems, to address IMI's needs.
Manages the troubleshooting of escalated incidents related to applications and their resolution within the defined plan in collaboration with IT Support team.
Aligns with the IT Support team to manage the development, maintenance, and enhancement of IMI’s business systems (Website, ERP, MIS, etc.) and monitors their effectiveness regularly.
Provides support on all applications and systems which serve the fields, and all IMI's functions.
Supports all IT Projects and Business Partners' teams for application related projects in the identification of work scope and development of technical specification.
Provides professional development support and performs periodic performance reviews for direct subordinates based on IMI’s Performance Management System.
Supports the development of workforce plans for the Information Technology Department.
Provides employees within the IT Application Department with the required competencies through appropriate and blended learning.
Qualifications & Experience
Education
Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
A master's degree in computer science or equivalent is an added advantage.
Professional Qualifications
Technical certifications in application development and/or implementation.
PMP or similar project management certifications are an added advantage.
Experience
Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in managing ERP, Engineering Design Application, and ERM Systems.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a managerial role.
Languages
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Fluent in English (Reading, Writing, and Speaking).
Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
IFS Applications implementation, support, and upgrade experience of minimum of 2 implementations
AVEVA Engineering and ERM applications
In-house application development experience using .NET, Angular, and React Native technologies.
Boomi Middleware
CAFM and other OT Applications for overall applications landscape of IMI
Customer Centricity with Service & Quality Orientation
