Food production supervisor

Job Summary: The Food Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily operations in the food production area to ensure efficiency, safety, and compliance with industry standards. This role involves coordinating production schedules, managing staff, and ensuring high-quality product output. Skills Key Responsibilities: Supervision and Management: Supervise daily operations in the food production area. Manage and lead a team of production workers, including training, scheduling, and performance evaluation. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. Address and resolve personnel issues in a timely manner. Production Planning: Coordinate production schedules to meet customer demands and deadlines. Monitor and adjust production processes to ensure efficiency and quality. Collaborate with the Production Manager and other departments to optimize workflow. Quality Control: Implement and oversee quality control measures to ensure high standards. Conduct regular inspections and audits of production processes and products. Address and rectify any quality issues promptly. Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels of raw materials and finished products. Coordinate with the procurement department to ensure timely replenishment of supplies. Maintain accurate records of production and inventory. Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes. Utilize lean manufacturing principles to enhance efficiency and reduce waste. Stay updated on industry trends and integrate best practices into the production process. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed records of production metrics, including output, efficiency, and quality. Prepare and present regular reports to the Production Manager. Ensure all documentation is up-to-date and compliant with regulatory standards. Qualifications: Education: Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Manufacturing, Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent experience may be considered. Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years in a food production environment, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role. Skills and Abilities: Strong leadership and team management skills. Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Proficient in production management software and tools. Knowledge of HACCP, GMP, and other food safety standards. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Physical Requirements: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Willingness to work in varying temperatures and environments (cold storage, kitchen areas). Working Conditions: Primarily works in a food production environment. May require occasional evening or weekend work to meet production deadlines. Potential exposure to hazardous materials and equipment, requiring adherence to safety protocols.
