Job Purpose
The Senior Scaffolding Engineer is responsible for leading the design, planning, and execution of scaffolding systems across construction projects. The role ensures that all scaffolding solutions meet safety, quality, and operational requirements, in full compliance with local and international standards. This position provides technical leadership on-site and plays a key role in maintaining safe and efficient construction environments.
Key Responsibilities Policies, Processes & Procedures Adhere to company policies and procedures to ensure full compliance and operational efficiency. Enforce safety and security protocols to protect personnel, equipment, and company assets. Design & Planning Lead the design and engineering of scaffolding systems, including cantilever and suspended scaffolds. Review and approve scaffold drawings and structural calculations in accordance with standards such as BS EN 12811 and OSHA. Develop detailed erection and dismantling plans, including manpower and resource allocation. Select appropriate materials and structural components to ensure safe and efficient scaffold systems. Ensure all designs consider load capacity, accessibility, and fall protection requirements. Execution & Site Coordination Provide technical guidance and leadership to scaffolding teams during installation and execution. Approve scaffolding systems prior to site use, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. Conduct regular site inspections and audits to verify compliance with approved designs and regulations. Investigate scaffolding-related incidents, implement corrective actions, and drive continuous safety improvements. Safety & Compliance Coordinate closely with the HSE team to inspect, monitor, and document scaffolding systems throughout the project lifecycle. Ensure full compliance with internal safety procedures and external regulatory requirements. Maintain adherence to regional codes and international scaffolding standards. Stakeholder Coordination Collaborate with project managers, construction engineers, and site supervisors to integrate scaffolding plans into project schedules. Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants to ensure smooth delivery and installation. Support stakeholders in resolving design, execution, or site-related challenges. Documentation & Reporting Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports covering scaffold design progress, site activities, and safety inspections. Maintain accurate records of approvals, drawings, inspections, and incident reports. Ensure documentation is up to date and compliant with company and audit requirements.
Qualifications & Experience Academic Qualification Bachelor’s Degree in Scaffolding Engineering or Civil Engineering. Experience Minimum 8 years of experience in scaffolding engineering. At least 2 years in a site-based supervisory or engineering role. Technical Requirements Proven experience with scaffolding design software and structural calculations.
