Job Title: Business Development Director Location: Riyadh, Saudi Arabia Employment Type: Full-time
Role Overview:We are seeking a highly driven and commercially astute Business Development Director to lead growth initiatives within the renewable energy and power sector in Saudi Arabia. The role will focus on identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities across utility-scale and distributed energy projects, aligned with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 and national energy transition goals. The Business Development Director will play a critical role in market expansion, strategic partnerships, project origination, and tendering activities, working closely with technical, commercial, and executive leadership teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Market Development & Strategy• Develop and execute business development strategies for renewable energy and power projects• Identify and pursue new project opportunities (solar, wind, hybrid, energy storage, and power infrastructure)• Monitor market trends, government initiatives, and regulatory developments Project Origination & Partnerships• Lead project origination efforts from concept to financial close• Establish and manage relationships with government entities, utilities, developers, and investors• Structure partnerships, joint ventures, and strategic alliances Tendering & Commercial Leadership• Lead bid strategy for RFPs, RFQs, and tenders issued by utilities and government authorities• Oversee commercial proposals, financial models (in coordination with finance), and contractual negotiations• Ensure competitive positioning and value creation in bids Stakeholder & Client Management• Represent the company with key stakeholders, including regulators, utilities, and project partners• Build and maintain long-term client relationships• Support contract negotiation and project award processes Internal Coordination• Work closely with engineering, project development, legal, and finance teams• Provide market intelligence and pipeline visibility to senior management• Support project feasibility assessments and investment decisions
Candidate Profile:
Experience:• Minimum 12–15 years of experience in business development within renewable energy or power• Strong track record in project origination, bidding, and deal closure• Direct experience in the Saudi or GCC power market• Exposure to IPP, IWPP, PPP, or EPC-led project development models
Technical & Commercial Skills:• Strong understanding of renewable technologies (solar PV, wind, BESS, hybrid systems)• Solid knowledge of power project commercial structures and PPA frameworks• Ability to manage complex negotiations and commercial agreements• Experience working with financial models and investment analysis
Education & Qualifications:• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or related field• MBA or Master’s degree is a plus.
Personal Attributes:• Strategic, proactive, and results-oriented• Strong communication and presentation skills• High level of commercial judgment and market awareness• Able to operate in a fast-paced, project-driven environment
