PURPOSE
- Responsible for leading & performing transverse petrophysical studies, such as integrated full field petrophysical re-interpretation studies, supervising advanced & specialty studies and core analysis program (including SCAL)

ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Responsible for definition of best practices and quality control of all petrophysical associated studies including but not limited to advanced logs interpretation.
- Manage petrophysical specialty studies and contracts and budget definition and progress tracking.
- Promote and support RGS teams in the interpretation, integration, and reconciliation of petrophysical data.
- Managing the execution of core analysis programs (cutting, CCAL, SCAL)
- Secondary interface for reservoir modelling input with all Geosciences entities.
- Focal point with external 3rdparty support / service Teams for petrophysical studies and geophysical input in models
- Ensure the highest technical standards are applied in all petrophysical interpretations in line with TA&CD defined processes.
- Responsible for managing the final interpretations in Techlog staging projects and update of other relevant master databases used by other disciplines (Petrel, Sismage, T-more etc.)
- Pro-actively seek learning opportunities that allow the job holder as well as other petrophysicists in RGS to keep abreast of developments in well logging technology.
- Support definition of the data acquisition programs in wells, especially advanced techniques & interpretations strategy.
- Support Opportunity Maturation process & cased-hole logging activities to Reservoir Management & Opportunities team.
- Lead or perform transverse and/or high-end petrophysical studies to other RGS delivery units (Reservoir Management & Opportunities, Reservoir development & Growth, NWD)
- Promote digital solutions for petrophysical activities.
ACTIVITIES
- Responsible of petrophysical studies data quality
- Lead or perform transverse petrophysical studies, such as integrated full field petrophysical re-interpretation studies, core analysis, integration core, fluids, and conventional and advanced log data through establishment of contracts, engagement with shareholders.
- Contribute and support “technical assurance and competency development team” in the elaboration of input data for static model building and dynamic model updates.
- Participation in the understanding of reservoir behaviour as it pertains to petrophysics.
- Contribute to the development of external communications within the petrophysical and reservoir community.
- Participate in the consolidation of the petrophysical knowhow in close collaboration with the RGS Team leaders Promote understanding and use of petrophysical data within RGS teams.
- In charge of technical scope of work of outsourced petrophysical studies
- Follow-up on latest technical evolutions of petrophysical solutions applicable to Al Shaheen
- Mentoring less experienced petrophysicists and personnel of other disciplines in petrophysics as may be assigned for training purposes.
- Support the Geology & Petrophysics Discipline lead in validation or interpretations activities as may be required.
- Support GTST Manager in the definition of annual RGS strategic priorities and QBR process where necessary
- Support the definition of the budget for the petrophysical studies and engage with IPP for budget reporting and cost control.
- Support Innovation & Petrophysics Advisor to definition annual technology plan and budget for RGS in petrophysics
- Promote technology progression through the established petrophysical contracts.
- Support Cuttings, CCAL, SCAL activities. Define, prioritize, quality control, report and publish core analysis results in corporate database.
- Support definition of the data acquisition program for mudlogging, coring and open-hole/cased-hole logging.
- Deliver high-end petrophysical studies to other RGS delivery units (Reservoir Management & Opportunities, Reservoir development & Growth, NWD) as required.
- Represent NOC RGS externally in industry technology events and publications as required for petrophysics.
- Support SME geophysicist on petro-acoustic and petro-elastic data validation and integration into studies and PEMs (petro-elastic model).
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- More than 20 years’ experience in Subsurface development, with minimum 15 years in petrophysics and formation evaluation, including significant experience in advanced logging techniques and reservoir integration studies.
- Minimum requirement of a bachelor or preferably master’s degree (in a Geoscience / Petrophysics / Physics subject)
PROFILE REQUIRED
- Previous experience on carbonate reservoirs is required (last 10 continuous years preferred)
- International experience is recommended.
- Strong experience in physics / tool physics / rock physics
- Must have worked on target selection with deep understanding on static model and good knowledge on petrophysical models.
- Deep knowledge of geology and carbonate sedimentology (middle east experience would be an advantage)
- Good knowledge of dynamic reservoir parameters
- Must be fluent in English.
- Very good communication skills
- Team player, persuasive, analytic, resilient, pragmatic, delivery orientated and source of innovation.
- Previous working experience in petrophysics R&D or reservoir integrated team would be a bonus.
- Fully versed in petrophysical studies management, with knowledge of Core laboratory Analysis protocol
- Ability to collaborate and support multidisciplinary teams and entities
- Ability to communicate and engage with shareholders
