GENERAL MANAGER, RIYADH OFFICE

 

 

Reports to:                Charles S. Hallab, President and CEO

 

 

Position Opportunity: This position offers a truly unique opportunity for a high-profile and high-impact leadership role at the heart of the U.S.-Saudi business and economic relationship, working for a storied institution with a long and successful history as the only bilateral organization in the world focused on private and public sector initiatives and investments between Saudi Arabia and the U.S. The position would involve working with a dynamic team of professionals in Washington D.C., managing a responsive and efficient staff in Riyadh, and coordinating with senior business and government leaders as well as other important stakeholders to further and foster economic ties and business ventures between the two global powers.  

 

 

Position Summary:     Works with CEO and executive leadership of the Council to plan and execute policies and objectives of the Council’s operations in Saudi Arabia.  At the direction of the CEO, manages activities concerned with member services, events and programs, accounting, and staffing in Saudi Arabia. Oversees product and services development including quality control management.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Working with CEO and executive leadership, manages organizational efforts to develop, communicate, disseminate, and implement the USSBC’s strategic plan and programs in Saudi Arabia. 
  • Establishes and maintains strategic external relationships with government officials and business leaders, and works to build and enhance the profile and public image of the Business Council in the Kingdom.
  • Collaborates with the CEO and executive leadership to develop and implement an infrastructure of systems, processes and personnel in the Riyadh office to fulfill USSBC strategic objectives.
  • Recommends and implements strategies for increasing the Business Council’s Saudi membership roster and revenues.
  • Generates sponsorship income and other income-generating initiatives.
  • Develops strategies that maximize the Business Council’s abilities to retain existing members.  Produces periodic progress reports on membership promotion and member relations activities.
  • Answers member inquiries, meeting requests with Saudi officials and business leaders, and otherwise executes the Business Council’s member consultative services.
  • Responsible for the preparation, organization, and implementation of business development missions to Saudi Arabia and the U.S.
  • Develops programs, work plans, events, publications, and activities to fulfill strategic direction.  
  • Ensures the effectiveness of internal processes and provides reports to the CEO on the condition of the organization.  Oversees Riyadh office operations, human resources, finance and accounting, membership, publications, meetings and conferences, and the information technology functions. Prepares budgets.
  • Ensures standards of quality for deliverables produced by USSBC and adheres to highest standards of business ethics and legal compliance.
  • Represents USSBC at functions, seminar, trade shows, meetings, etc.
  • Attends conferences, meetings, and other events to promote the Council in Saudi Arabia.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education and Experience:

 

·        Saudi nationality or citizenship

·        Master’s Degree or other advanced schooling in Business Administration, Marketing, International Trade, or similar field, preferred.  

·        5 years in a relevant position within a for-profit or nonprofit corporation, including direct-line supervisory responsibility over staff.

·        Excellent knowledge of Saudi Arabia business environment.

·        Understanding and experience in investment and trade issues affecting the U.S.-Saudi bilateral relationship.

·        Superior leadership record and demonstrated experience in organizational strategic planning.

·        A proven track record in successful client relations and business outreach.

  • Strong and demonstrated management and administrative oversight skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, in addition to a well-developed sense of customer/client service.
  • Marketing management and strategic planning expertise
  • Comfort interacting with senior business and government leaders from Saudi and the U.S.
  • Immediately detectable interpersonal skills and congenial disposition.
  • Detail oriented and ability to multitask.
  • Solid quantitative and analytical skills.
  • Strong knowledge of leading computer applications, especially database management and presentation programs, such as Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and CRM software Salesforce
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, member companies, and government officials.
  • Fluent in Arabic and English.
