Job Description
The purpose of this position is to provide strategic and functional leadership to support college operations and to develop and manage faculty and staff and ensure that the college continues to grow in reputation, international accreditation and in the development of innovative programs. The role of the Dean of the College of Business requires a leader who oversees the academic and administrative functions of the college, engages with external stakeholders, and drives strategic initiatives to maintain and enhance the college's reputation and effectiveness.
SECTION II: KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership, Strategic and Financial Planning
- Develop and implement the strategic vision and long-term goals of the College.
- Establish and implement policies and procedures to ensure academic and operational excellence.
- Develop College action plans, implementation strategies and continuous improvement feedback mechanisms.
- Participate actively in supporting ADU's Strategic Plan at the College and University levels.
- Regularly review program feasibility.
- Ensure the financial feasibility of the College and its programs.
- Manage the budget for the college.
Marketing & Enrolment Management
- Develop, implement and evaluate a College Enrolment Plan.
- Plan, implement and oversee a College retention strategy for current students.
- Advertise the college activities on various portals to publicize the courses and programs offered at the college.
- Develop and coordinate recruitment activities with the University and organize and attend information sessions.
Academic Management
Curriculum Oversight
- Oversee the development and continuous improvement of academic programs, ensuring they meet industry standards and accreditation requirements (CAA, AACSB, EQUIS, WASC).
- Coordinate the development, growth and sustainability, both academically and financially, of academic programs within the college.
- Oversee the development of course curriculum and assessment tools to ensure compliance with ADU policies and accreditation at the national and international levels.
- Ensure the cost-effective delivery of programs and courses.
Faculty Management
- Recruit, retain, and support faculty members by fostering a productive and collaborative academic environment.
Research
- Encourage and support faculty research, and research development.
Administrative Responsibilities
Operational Oversight
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the College, including budgeting, resource allocation, and facilities management.
Staff Supervision
- Oversee administrative staff, ensuring effective support for academic and operational functions.
- Lead in the recruitment and selection of faculty and staff
- Ensure the effective management and development of faculty and staff.
- Oversee all personnel matters involving academic and non-academic employees including recruitment, appointment, evaluation, promotion and termination and dismissal.
- Oversee the preparation and approval of faculty workload and professional development plans.
- Support faculty, course coordinators, department chairs and/or Associate Deans by providing clear leadership and guidance.
Student Engagement and Student Experience
- Enhance the overall student experience by addressing academic, professional, and personal development needs.
Alumni Relations
- Maintain relationships with alumni, fostering a supportive network and engaging them in College activities.
External Relations
Industry Partnership
- Build and maintain relationships with business leaders, companies, and other external stakeholders to enhance opportunities for students and faculty.
- Establish strong links with external agencies, government and business in the fields related to the College.
Accreditation and Quality Assurance
Accreditation
- Ensure the school meets the standards of accrediting bodies and continuously improves the quality of programs.
- Document curriculum changes associated with all CAA, ADEC, AACSB and WASC approved curricula within the college.
- Lead the college in securing accreditation from relevant accreditation bodies and ensure maintenance of such accreditations.
- Write reports for the CAA and other relevant accreditation bodies.
Quality Assurance
- Implement measures to assess and enhance the quality of teaching learning and assessment.
SECTION III: KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Minimum educational qualifications required for the role:
- Research Doctorate from an Internationally accredited HE institution in a Business-related discipline (preferably top 200 with AACSB or EQUIS accreditation).
Minimum Years of Experience Required
- 4 years of experience as Department Chair or as an Associate Dean in an internationally accredited school of business.
Nature of Relevant Experience Required
- Department Chair or as an Associate Dean in an internationally accredited school of business
- Experience with faculty and staff management and evaluation and development.
- Understanding of accreditation standards for business schools, processes and experience with the UAE CAA standards and requirements.

Language Skills - English, Proficient C2
- Arabic, preferred but not required
Special Skills and Abilities
- People skills, Leadership skills, excellence verbal and written Communication, Organization, and Strategic Planning. Understanding of international accreditation standards.
