Role Purpose
The purpose of the Terminal Manager position is to lead all cargo handling services related to General Cargo, bulk, RoPax and T0 container terminal operations. Scope includes the optimization of cargo flows, processes and procedures, safety, reporting, budgeting, service delivery, contract management and leadership of team.
Responsibilities
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & ACTIVITIES
- Develop and execute strategies for planning and all cargo handling operations, in line with the organizational vision, strategy and objectives as well as contracted customer expectations.
- Manage daily operations according to Neom operating principles of the business and relationships with customers, government entities and port stakeholders
- Participate in developing customer agreements and accountability for the execution and maintenance of agreed service levels
- Collaborate cross functionally to develop systems to improve performance and productivity to drive down cost
- Identify innovation solutions that drive performance
- Ensure policies and procedures for safety, environment, and security compliance of all related cargo segments
- Liaise with and align common targets with all port stakeholders to ensure effectiveness of services
- Develop team objectives and measure and report performance using key performance indicators
- Establish budgets for all cargo handling initiatives and manage costs to align with budgets
- Approve a training plan that meets all necessary requirements for each activity and job within scope
- Actively collaborate with peers in other port workstreams to deliver a comprehensive port solution that is best in class
- Foster a continuous improvement culture across all accountable workstreams/ P&Ls
- Ensures team is trained to KSA and international standards with required certifications and diplomas
- Drive a culture of high employee engagement through training and development, appraisals, discipline, and grievances.
- Contributes to and develop effective relationships with all suppliers and related port users
- Leads development of future assets including workshopping, cost and operational modelling as well as end user (customer) engagement ensuring requirements are known and design delivers.
- Develops self and always maintains knowledge in relevant field.
- Lead Terminal organizational development of all terminals under scope
- Actively drive both front line and back office workforce engagement
Background, Skills & Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Minimum 20 years in containerized and non-containerized operational roles with 5 years in senior port leadership positions such as COO
- The position requires a professional standard of knowledge to lead teams through functional/general expertise in GC operations as well as broad management skills.
- Proven experience in safety, cost and productivity improvement as well as design and implementation of new operation procedure for continuous improvement
- Strong communication skills including ability to communicate across the organization and stakeholders
- Excellent analytical skills.
- Effective negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Previous experience leading a terminal start up through organizational and operational development stages
- Ability to provide leadership, obtain cooperation and promote a team environment to meet objectives.
- Fluent in English and preferably Arabic speaking
