Strategic Contribution
- Ensure effective cascading of the Preconstruction & VDC departmental strategy into operating plans to ensure vertical alignment and horizontal integration with other interfacing departmental strategies.
People Management
- Manage the effective achievement of Preconstruction & VDC objectives through the leadership of the Preconstruction & VDC department by setting of individual objectives, managing performance, developing, and motivating staff to maximize sectional performance.
- Lead the talent development initiatives for the Preconstruction & VDC department, collaborating with technical/discipline experts and thereby ensure the availability of talent to fit business requirements.
- Act as a role model and drive adherence to organizational values and ethics by employees of the Preconstruction & VDC department to foster a value driven culture within the organization.
Budgeting and Financial Planning
- Manage the preparation, recommend the Preconstruction & VDC department budget, and monitor financial performance versus the budget while ensuring all sectional activities are conducted in line with the approved guidelines.
Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures
- Manage and ensure effective implementation of policies, procedures and controls covering all areas of Preconstruction & VDC department activity so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements, fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service.
VDC Strategy and BIM Implementation and Management
- Execute the approved VDC strategy, aligned with the overall departmental and organizational strategic objectives, regulatory requirements, and best practices to optimize the use of BIM technology and workflows across the preconstruction phase.
- Lead the effective implementation of VDC guidelines and standards across projects to ensure standardization and alignment with the department goals.
- Direct the standardization of VDC/BIM workflows across construction projects to ensure consistency and the adoption of best practices and industry standards.
- Oversee the Master Information Development Plan (MIDP) developed by engineers, as a roadmap providing relevant data requirements, and BIM standards required for effective project execution.
- Direct the development and implementation of a BIM Execution Plan (BEP) and protocols leveraging from the MIDP to identify BIM deliverables, data formats, project specifications, and objectives.
- Oversee and effectively manage the BIM software selection, licensing, and installation requirements aligned with construction project specifications to ensure seamless integration of BIM technologies into construction projects.
- Lead and oversee the effective coordination and maintenance of BIM models to identify and rectify potential design conflicts by collaborating with industry-specific managers.
- Drive the liaison with and support from the Information Technology (IT) and Business Transformation (BT) departments to ensure effective setup across construction sites to assist with the effective delivery of project visualization to project teams for optimum project execution.
- Direct and oversee BIM coordination meetings with relevant stakeholders to ensure VDC/BIM deliverables meet their targets and timelines.
- Coordinate with the Lead VDC/BIM Coordinator and project teams and design departments to incorporate the VDC approach and BIM into the overall project execution plan.
- Promote the early adoption of the VDC/BIM technologies across construction projects to enhance project visualization and reduce possible risks.
- Remain up to date on VDC/BIM best practices and changes to continuously drive the technological transformation across construction projects.
VDC/BIM Training and Support
- Advocate and drive the benefit of applying VDC/BIM technologies to business leaders, project owners, architects, contractors, and engineers to effectively implement VDC and relevant technological solutions without client resistance
- Oversee training and upskilling programs and initiatives to enhance the department and relevant stakeholders' knowledge and capability in using VDC/BIM tools and technologies to support project delivery.
Risk Assessment
- Direct and oversee the effective proactive identification and analysis of potential risks across projects related to VCD/BIM implementation to mitigate and manage these risks effectively across project lifecycles.
Stakeholder and Client Engagement
- Drive collaboration with various stakeholders (engineers, design team, architects, clients, etc.) early in the construction phase to communicate about VDC/BIM technologies and how they can benefit their project deliverables to obtain buy-in and support.
- Foster strong relationships with stakeholders and clients to understand their overall needs and requirements and to keep them informed and updated throughout the project in terms of required changes, shortfalls, challenges, and opportunities.
- Provide guidance and assistance to project teams and relevant stakeholders to accurately interpret design specifications to ensure accurate and successful execution.
Regulatory Compliance
- Direct and oversee adherence to relevant Industry Standard Architecture (ISA) standards across the Preconstruction and VDC department to comply with regulatory requirements.
- Oversee that preconstruction and VDC initiatives, plans and processes adhere to local and global regulations, to ensure compliance throughout all preconstruction phases and VDC initiatives
- Remain abreast of any industry-related regulatory or legislative changes to remain compliant across the department.
- Drive research efforts to remain updated on local and global leading practices to ensure that these practices are applied across construction projects’ quality testing processes and adhere to regulatory requirements.
- Adhere to ISO 19650 to ensure standardized and effective management of information and documentation throughout projects, driving collaboration, and enhancing transparency and quality control.
Continuous Improvement
- Lead the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement and sustainability of systems, processes and practices considering global standards, productivity improvement and cost reduction.
Quality, Health, Safety & Environment (QHSE) Management
- Manage the effective implementation of corporate policies, procedures, and processes to promote a culture focusing on the achievement of world class standards in QHSE and sustainability within Preconstruction & VDC in line with regulatory requirements.
Reporting
- Ensure that all Preconstruction & VDC departmental reports are prepared timely and accurately and meet Nesma & Partners requirements, policies, and quality standards.
