Director of Procurement

The<br/><br/>Director of Procurement<br/><br/>will be responsible for planning and coordinating the purchasing activities of the company, and acting as the focal point of the procurement department's interface with other departments to find appropriate supplier options and ensure purchasing of capital and other requirements for daily operation is carried out properly in line with the group’s strategy, budget, policies and procedures.
Key Accountabilities
Oversee the consolidation and recommend the Purchasing budget and monitor financial performance versus the budget so that the business is aware of anticipated costs/revenues, areas of unsatisfactory performance are identified, and potential areas of cost reduction or performance improvement opportunities are capitalized upon.
Direct the development and oversee the implementation of the Purchasing functional policies, systems, processes, procedures, and controls so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service to customers in a consistent manner.
Review, prepare and seek approval for all corporate contracts.
Solicit quotations and engage in negotiations with suppliers to obtain options providing high quality for the best prices.
Resource and explore the market for new opportunities to match the purchasing requirements of the different departments with several options of high quality and favorable prices.
Manage the effective achievement of the Purchasing objectives through the leadership of the procurement department – setting individual objectives, recruiting qualified staff, managing performance, developing, and motivating staff, provision of formal and informal feedback and appraisal – in order to maximize subordinate and departmental performance.
Develop the Purchasing functional strategy and ensure that the strategy is cascaded down to the departments to ensure vertical alignment and horizontal integration of all functional strategies across ELAF.
Qualification / Capabilities: Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration
Certified procurement manager course.
Experience:
8-10 years’ relevant experience in purchasing and logistics including at least 6 years in positions of progressively increasing managerial responsibilities.
