CONTEXT 

The Regional Communication Center (RCC) in Cairo provides specialized services in digital communication, production, and translation/edition of texts in Arabic, including training and coaching to the delegations in Near and Middle East (NAME) region. These services consider the needs of the delegations covered, the audiences in the region as well as the ICRC Communication strategy. The RCC_CAI also conducts projects, products, and campaigns to support the ICRC’s positioning at a regional level.

OBJECTIVE

The Audiovisual Producer supports public communication through the production, post-production, promotion, and distribution of videos, photographs, podcasts, and other audiovisual material (GIFs, etc.), mainly for publication on social media, website, and media room in Arabic. S/He supports the implementation of regional campaigns and initiatives, in their AV aspect. In support of the delegations, S/He conducts content generation missions, edits, or organizes video editing, and provides professional advice, training, and coaching as well as strategic orientation in the field.

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  1. Audiovisual production: 
  • Participates in the planning and generation of AV content and photos from the field, in close collaboration with delegations in NAME region: B-roll, AV stories with human interest, portraits and interviews for online platforms, and quality photos. 
  • Regularly goes on field missions to produce content (filming and/or production), particularly for regional campaigns or during field visits by senior ICRC officials.
  • Manages entire production of regional AV projects: budgets, develops schedules, and writes video flow and scripts. Participates in filming and editing according to production needs.
  • Provides technical advice to delegations producing films and other AV products locally. If necessary, assist them in certain stages of the AV production process.
  • In agreement with headquarters and client units, publishes AV products from headquarters to meet regional needs, particularly for global campaigns.
  • Produces Arabic versions of AV productions originally in English (or another language), in principle from international versions, including subtitles and/or voice-over.
  • Produce Audio projects (podcasts, audio articles, and Audio books) in collaboration with related units.Can be deployed to the field during humanitarian crisis to produce AV content.
  • Ensures compliance with ICRC standard work processes to ensure quality, accuracy, production integrity as well as budgetary control.
  1. Organization / Archiving / Promotion
  • Organizes the flow of AV and digital equipment, the maintenance of IT equipment, and the management of production tools according to ICRC administrative procedures.
  • Manages the production studio (audio and AV) established within the RCC.
  • Knows, applies, and respects all administrative procedures (payments, mission contracts, etc.).
  • Updates and documents all AV recordings in ICRC hard drives and production databases. Ensures that all necessary files and digital documents, as well as photos with captions, are transmitted to Geneva (MediaHub- Archives).
  • Promotes new AV products from NAME region within the ICRC, through appropriate channels.
  • Advises delegations on distribution and promotion strategies to improve the visibility of audiovisual products among their target audiences.
  • Ensure and assist delegations in documenting their digital assets properly.
  • Provides AV product statistics quarterly as well as analyses of the impact of AV production.
  • Manages the ICRC Arabic YouTube and audio channels (Soundcloud, Anchor...)
  1. Collaboration: 
  • Works closely with AV focal points at headquarters and AV producers at other RCCs to ensure realistic allocation of resources to various projects, either under direct responsibility or those of other delegations in the region. Seeks advice and support on technical and editorial aspects during planning, production, and post-production phases.
  • Collaborates closely within RCC CAI, keeping the head of digital Unit informed of current AV activities. Coordinates work with other digital team colleagues. Participates in reporting and RCC team meetings.
  • Develops a network of relevant external service providers (AV producers, camera operators, editors, screenwriters, high-level photographers, etc.) in Cairo and elsewhere in the region. 
  • Cooperates with delegations to identify and develop this network locally. Identifies service providers such as studios and production companies, in collaboration with the logistics team, for dubbing and subtitling of ICRC audiovisual material. Ensures providers are aware of and adhere to ICRC AV and photo guidelines, maintaining quality control.
  1. Training, and Support:
  • Contributes to the training and ensures regular coaching of communication colleagues in audiovisual techniques and procedures in the delegations and the RCC digital team. 
  • Manages AV material's translation and editing requests to the translation unit team and supports the digital officers in publishing audiovisual content.
  • Collaborates with internal and external promotion and regular reporting.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Tracks all work-related messages and correspondence with relevant contacts and departments.
  • Knows the objectives of the RCC_CAI and the ICRC in the region and has a good knowledge of the Movement and other contacts relevant to the position.
  • Represents the ICRC appropriately during activities, at meetings, and in the field; avoids any activity that could harm the ICRC's image.
  • Takes responsibility for his/her own learning and professional development.

 Minimum requirements - Knowledge and experience Degree in communications, AV production, journalism, or related field.Experience of at least five (5) years in the audiovisual sector as a producer or journalist.Ability to manage and execute all aspects of AV production (subject identification, field mission planning, concept development, budgeting, production, post-production, and distribution).Experience and extensive knowledge of video editing software (Final Cut, ProX).PC and Mac proficiency.Experience recruiting and managing external AV resources (e.g., high-level camera operators, editors, scriptwriters, and photographers).Proven coaching/training skills.Motivation for work with a humanitarian purpose and ability to create products of interest to the ICRC's target audiences on priority issues. Humanitarian experience is a plus.Mother tongue: Arabic, with excellent oral and written expression. Proficiency in English is a must.Autonomy, sense of initiative and responsibility. Good capacity for analysis and synthesis.Team spirit, and proven ability to integrate into a multidisciplinary and multicultural team.Flexibility for travel in the sub-region and be part of the ICRC roster for crisis.
