Responsibilities

The Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Geozone Manager is responsible for implementing the HSE management system across all Weatherford Business Units, Product Lines, engineering, and product development groups within the geographical area. This role is the senior-most HSE appointment within the relevant area, with all Weatherford HSE personnel reporting to this position, either directly or functionally.

Roles & Responsibilities:

SAFETY, SECURITY & COMPLIANCE

  • Maintain the highest standards of corporate governance, ensuring that all activities are carried out ethically and in compliance with the company's Security, Compliance, and HSE policies, Management System, relevant laws, regulations, standards, and industry practices, and comply with the company's Rules to Live By.
  • Place Quality, Health & Safety, Security, and protection of the Environment as core values, never intentionally putting employees, processes, customers, or communities at risk.
  • Seek continual improvement in Health, Safety, Security, and protection of the Environment, considering responsible care, process vulnerabilities, public, customer, and employee inputs, knowledge, technology, and best business practices to exceed customer expectations.
  • Cultivate HSE leaders at all levels within the organization, Provide coaching and feedback to develop their HSE leadership competencies and confidence.
  • Organize regular HSE engagement to enhance the HSE knowledge and leadership skills of employees.
  • Foster a culture of open communication and encourage employees to actively participate in HSE discussions, share best practices, and provide feedback on HSE initiatives.
  • Recognize and reward employees who demonstrate exceptional HSE leadership and contribute to the improvement of HSE performance in the region.

QUALITY

 

  • Responsible for being familiar with the company's Quality policies and actively participating in the compliance and improvement of Weatherford's Management System.
  • Maintain service quality as an immediate priority when working across all areas of the business and continually seek areas for improvement.

OPERATIONS

 

  • Promote and facilitate Operational Excellence and Performance System (OEPS) in the business and operations throughout the geographical area.
  • Support the investigation of all incidents and near misses, ensuring they are correctly entered into Weatherford Performance Tracking System (WPTS).
  • Responsible for the overall HSE data quality of WPTS.
  • Audit to ensure that the HSE management system is uniformly implemented throughout the area.
  • Assist with external audits and certifications such as ISO 14001 & 45001.
  • Implement and ensure compliance with incident-prevention, risk management systems, and programs for incorporation into common operational policies of the organization.
  • Ensure timely investigations of HSE incidents, reporting, and follow-up.
  • Engage with key stakeholders to ensure the appropriate expertise is involved in the investigation of all incidents.
  • Continuously monitor for negative trends within HSE statistical data and report these to the relevant stakeholders as required.
  • Review client bids/tenders and provide appropriate input pertaining to HSE requirements.
  • Ensure common HSE training standards are implemented throughout the area (e.g., HSE specific training, management system training, individual safety certification training).
  • Ensure compliance with common work standards/policies throughout the area (e.g., working at heights, electrical safety standards, bloodborne pathogens, H2S standards, etc.).
  • Consolidate, evaluate, and process HSE statistical information accurately and timely from all Weatherford entities within the area for roll-up into the Corporate HSE Department.
  • Ensure that all incident reporting protocols are followed by all Weatherford entities within the area.
  • Support Root Cause Analysis Investigations with functional expertise, in conjunction with the applicable operations manager.

COMMUNICATION

 

  • Represent Weatherford as the primary HSE representative within the area.
  • Coordinate initiatives and activities with Corporate Risk Management, Corporate HSE, and Human Resources Departments to ensure consistency in processes and guidelines.
  • Interact with both internal and external customers regarding HSE matters on behalf of Weatherford.
  • Communicate with Geozone & Product Line management to ensure clarity on their HSE roles and responsibilities.
  • Liaise with regulatory agencies governing operations as needed.
  • Engage with customer HSE and operations representatives to align with key customer requirements.
  • Maintain effective communication with all key stakeholders, both internal and external.
  • Clearly communicate expectations, roles, and responsibilities to direct reports.

FINANCIAL

  • Identify and assess acts, behaviors, and conditions that could lead to incidents and financial losses, and evaluate the potential extent of injuries resulting from accidents.
  • Ensure all employees are financially responsible, whether managing a budget or their own expenses.
  • Ensure costs incurred are within the approved budget, processed within agreed timeframes, and in accordance with relevant financial policies and procedures.

PEOPLE & DEVELOPMENT

 

  • Actively engage employees in talent management using Weatherford's performance management and coaching tools and processes, including talent assessments, succession planning, and regular coaching opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources and Training Development to drive strategies for the recruitment and retention of key personnel and to foster an environment that attracts and retains a high-performing talented workforce.
  • Direct Geozone HSE staff and provide HSE oversight for all product lines.
  • Identify resources needed to effectively deliver and maintain HSE compliance training in the area to all Weatherford employees.
  • Encourage employees to take responsibility for their own career development within the company, including completing all necessary function, compliance, and business standards training to enhance their knowledge, skills, and experience.
  • Encourage regular engagement between employees and their line managers to discuss personal performance, objectives, and opportunities to enhance skills and experience to support their career potential.

Qualifications

REQUIRED

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or a Business-related field.
  • At least 15 years of experience in implementing and/or maintaining an HSE management system.
  • 8-10 years of HSE-related experience, including a minimum of 5 years experience in the oil & gas industry.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a supervisory role.
  • Training in Root Cause Analysis Incident Investigation.

PREFERRED

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
  • NEBOSH Diploma or Certificate.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

 

  • In-depth knowledge of HSE regulations, standards, and best practices, particularly in the oil and gas industry. Proficiency in interpreting and applying HSE laws and guidelines to operational contexts.
  • Ability to develop and implement comprehensive HSE strategies and programs that align with organizational goals and industry standards.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve high levels of HSE performance. Experience in leading cross-functional teams and managing direct reports.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey HSE policies and procedures to diverse audiences. Proficiency in preparing and delivering presentations and reports.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to conduct thorough incident investigations, root cause analyses, and risk assessments.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing HSE projects, including planning, execution, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Ability to lead and manage change initiatives, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and adaptation to evolving HSE standards and practices.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including employees, management, regulatory agencies, and clients.
  • Experience in developing and delivering HSE training programs, with the ability to engage and educate employees at all levels of the organisation
