Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role based in Dammam for a Lead Engineer – Air Separation Unit. The Lead Engineer oversees the design, operation, and optimization of air separation units, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable production of industrial gases to support refinery, petrochemical, and other downstream operations. Day-to-day responsibilities include supervising process performance, analyzing operating data, managing troubleshooting activities, and coordinating maintenance and improvement projects with cross-functional teams. The role involves developing and updating operating procedures, leading root cause analyses for equipment or process issues, and ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards. The Lead Engineer also mentors engineering staff, supports technical training, and participates in long-term capacity, reliability, and energy-efficiency enhancement initiatives.
Qualifications

Strong process engineering expertise in air separation units or industrial gas plants, including design, operation, and optimization of cryogenic and related systems. Proficiency in process simulation and engineering software (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, Aspen Plus or equivalent), data analysis, and performance monitoring tools. Demonstrated knowledge of industrial safety standards, risk assessment, HAZOP, and regulatory compliance in large-scale process plants. Experience leading multidisciplinary projects, coordinating with operations, maintenance, and reliability teams, and managing technical documentation. Solid understanding of instrumentation, control systems, and reliability engineering concepts relevant to continuous-process facilities. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities, with a focus on root cause analysis and continuous improvement. Effective communication and leadership skills, including mentoring less-experienced engineers and collaborating with diverse stakeholders. Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline; advanced degree or relevant certifications are an advantage. Industry experience in energy, chemicals, or industrial gases; prior work in cryogenic separation or similar technologies is highly beneficial.
