Job description
JOB PURPOSE / OBJECTIVE
Lead, plan, and manage all mechanical commissioning activities across installation, testing, and system-readiness phases for mechanical, marine, propulsion, and drilling equipment on offshore jack-up rigs, to ensure full compliance with project specifications, class requirements (ABS/DNV), and offshore regulatory standards, ultimately delivering a safe, fully operational, and acceptance-ready rig for final handover and deployment. The position provides technical leadership to commissioning teams and acts as a primary interface between construction, engineering, vendors, and the client. This position is responsible for executing onsite Pre-Commissioning and Commissioning activities and supporting the team in all onsite tasks.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Develop commissioning procedures, test packs, checklists, and execution plans for all mechanical, marine, and utility systems to ensure structured and safe commissioning.
• Review mechanical designs, P&IDs, GAs, system boundaries, and vendor documentation to confirm technical accuracy and commissioning readiness.
• Lead mechanical completion and commissioning phases from pre-commissioning through functional testing and final acceptance to achieve full system operability.
• Plan, organize, and execute FAT, HAT, and SAT for mechanical, marine, and drilling equipment to verify compliance with project and class requirements.
• Ensure all commissioning activities comply with ABS, DNV, SOLAS, API, and offshore regulatory standards to maintain certification integrity.
• Lead commissioning of drilling systems—including drawing works, top drive, rotary table, mud pumps, solids control, and well-control mechanical equipment—to ensure drilling readiness.
• Commission marine and jacking systems such as jacking units, preload systems, ballast/bilge systems, seawater cooling, fire main, deluge, and HVAC mechanical components to meet marine operational requirements.
• Commission power and utility systems including diesel engines, generators, compressors, fuel/lube oil systems, cooling water systems, cranes, winches, and safety-critical mechanical equipment to ensure reliable rig operations.
• Coordinate mechanical commissioning interfaces across construction, engineering, electrical, instrumentation, marine, and drilling disciplines to ensure seamless system integration.
• Manage OEM vendor activities during installation, testing, troubleshooting, and performance verification to maintain commissioning progress.
• Implement PTW, JSA, SIMOPS, and LOTO procedures to ensure safe execution of all mechanical commissioning tasks.
• Lead punch list creation, categorization, and closure for all mechanical systems to achieve mechanical completion and turnover readiness.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and rotating equipment issues and recommend corrective actions to restore system functionality.
• Prepare and maintain commissioning documentation—including ITRs, test reports, redline drawings, and turnover dossiers—to support final acceptance and audits.
• Support rig startup, performance testing, and first-well operations and deliver a fully commissioned jack-up rig ready for offshore deployment.
